Q. Great round. What were your top maybe two or three shots of the day?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I would say first of all I hit a really good wedge shot into number 10. I had a terrible lie in the middle of the fairway, I don't know what happened, it was just sitting like in a hole, basically. I hit a really good shot in there to kind of get the day started. Outside of that probably the putt on 18 was probably the best shot of the day. And I hit a decent amount of shots on the front nine too, putts just weren't falling as much as they were on the back.
Q. Do you pay attention to the big picture of things where you have Tom Hoge winning, first-time winner, Luke List winning, first-time winner. Scottie Scheffler out there contending. Do you pay attention to sort of the bigger context here?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Not really. I didn't realize that until you said that. But obviously knew who won the last two weeks, I didn't really add that up. But I actually played with Luke Sunday at Torrey Pines and he played fantastic. Tom's a good buddy of mine out here so it was good to see him win as well.
Q. Kind of flukey that you haven't won yet or what do you think?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I don't know, that's up for you to decide.
Q. 7-under, on your front nine today. Is that the best nine you've ever had, it looked like you just couldn't miss out there.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I mean with the way the wind was blowing it was a good wind for me on the first four holes with it being kind of off the right. But then you turn and you're playing 14 through 17, with it in off the left is really awkward win for a righty. And so with how firm and fast the greens are, yeah, it was probably some of the best nine holes that I've had, just with, I mean, the way the wind direction was. Some of those holes can be pretty awkward.
Q. You're wearing the green today. Is this an event that you just love and embrace?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I do, I really like this kind of stretch of golf here on the West Coast. I like this week, I like next week a lot and this is a fun event just to come play and hang out.
Q. One more question about winning. What do you think is harder, winning a TOUR event, shooting 59 or beating Jon Rahm in singles?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Well apparently winning a tournament might be the hardest (laughing).
Q. Just because you haven't done it? I don't know, there are people that would say, that wouldn't say that, that wouldn't agree with that?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I mean that's up for them. Like I said, I don't really think about that stuff, so to me it's not a very big deal. I'm very pleased with the stuff I've accomplished out here and just out here trying to play good golf.
Q. Did you think 59 all the way until what, four five holes left?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: You know, so when I shot 59 in Boston it never really crossed my mind until probably like the 14th hole when I missed a putt and I was like, Oh, crap, like I had a chance to shoot 59. It was kind of the same thing today to where I was making the turn and I saw I was kind of getting up near the lead and in my head I knew the wind was doing dying down so the last few holes on the back nine were going to play a lot easier than they were in the morning, so I knew I had kind of a lot of ground to catch up. I only made two birdie on the front but it was still a solid nine.
Q. You've played in this tournament a couple times, what are your comments on the atmosphere here, especially the 16th, especially down the stretch, 17, 18, what are your thoughts on the fans here?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I think it's a fun event. I think it would be a little bit draining if it was like this every week, but one week a year is pretty special. I think it's a fun event to come play.
Q. Is that something maybe tomorrow down the stretch you'll feed off of?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Hopefully. It's nice getting the crowd involved, especially when you're playing good golf and making putts, so hopefully it will be pretty rowdy out there.
