Q. You're headed back to Torrey for the Genesis via the Aon Swing 5. What does it mean to have qualified through that program and get back to Torrey to play a Signature Event?
SAM STEVENS: Yeah, I'm excited to go play another Signature Event. Obviously I really like Torrey. I've played there three times now, so this will be my fourth. I feel really comfortable. It's a good course for me.
Yeah, just another opportunity to play, and hopefully I can take advantage and kind of pick up where I left off.
Q. What do you think it is about Torrey that suits your game? You had second this year, but you've also finished top 15 there in the past, as well.
SAM STEVENS: Yeah, it's definitely a driver's golf course, and I feel like I typically drive the ball really well. The greens are kind of -- sometimes they get a little bumpy and it gets windy and it can be hard to make putts, and I feel like I do a good job of staying real patient when maybe other guys get a little flustered.
Overall, hard golf courses I think are good for me, and Torrey definitely falls into that category.
Q. What did you take from that week, kind of being right in the mix down the stretch to try to get that first TOUR title a couple weeks ago?
SAM STEVENS: Yeah, it's good to be in contention. You at least know that you're handling the nerves well. Honestly, going into the week I didn't feel like I was playing all that great. But my game has been real solid for the last year and a half or two.
Just to get into contention and to make some good swings -- obviously I didn't make a great swing on 18 the final day, but some really good shots and some good putts just helps you to know that when you're there, you can handle it and that your golf is good enough to get you there.
Q. Are the feelings from that week overall positive?
SAM STEVENS: Oh, yeah, for sure. Biggest paycheck I've ever gotten, so that's always a positive. But also just the points and getting off to a good start, and the Signature Events are such a huge advantage to get into, especially for guys that aren't in all of them. There's a lot of points. There's a lot of opportunity to just make your year a lot easier and a lot less stressful.
Positive thoughts from last time I was there, and hopefully I can keep the good vibes going.
Q. Cool to play a tournament hosted by Tiger, as well?
SAM STEVENS: Yeah, I've never played a tournament hosted by Tiger, but I've never played a tournament that Tiger was playing. I looked last night; he was still committed, so hopefully he's there. The few majors that I've played in have been the few majors that he's skipped over the last few years. It'll be cool to -- I've never seen him in person, so it'll be fun.
Q. It would be cool to meet him?
SAM STEVENS: It would be cool to meet him. It would be cool to go out there and win his tournament, too, so we'll see how it goes.
