Justin Thomas

Quick Quotes

Q. Justin, great finish there with the hole-out on 18. What was it like to finish that way in this environment?

JUSTIN THOMAS: It was great. I felt like I played a lot of great golf and did a lot of really good things this week, and I feel like we kind of deserved that. I didn't get much out of it and was plotting along, and unfortunately I started to hit my hot streak right when the week was over, but obviously proud of the finish and happy with a really good week.

Q. Do you recall a time you've holed out from the fairway on the last hole of a tournament?

JUSTIN THOMAS: I don't think I've ever done it on the last hole of a tournament. Not that I -- I mean, I did it in Mexico there in the WGC, but it ended up going into a playoff so I played more holes. But no, I can't think of it.

Q. You have a lot of top-10, even a couple of top-5 finishes in this tournament. The eagle vaulted you right back into that conversation. What about this course do you love the most and what helps you score so well here?

JUSTIN THOMAS: The course fits my eye. I think I know how to play it. It doesn't mean I'm going to play it that way, but I know how to get it around, and I've played well here. I think that's obviously most important.

I haven't gotten what I wanted, and that's that trophy. But I feel like I'm getting there and I'm doing a lot of the right things. I just have to obviously keep putting myself there, and hopefully one of these years it'll happen.

Q. 5-under over the last six holes, 1-under on the front. When you're in a position where you're chasing a little bit score-wise, does it allow you to play loose like that where you can take off and do what you did?

JUSTIN THOMAS: I mean, I wasn't really in the tournament I don't think. Thomas, I would have known within three or four holes, and I think he would have had to get off to a pretty bad start, and when he didn't and also was making birdies, it was just finish as high as we possibly could. I kind of knew that going into the day.

But just tried to take the mentality of staying patient and just try to birdie each hole. It played a lot tougher being firm, but I was playing well to where I had some chances here and there.

Q. You played with Thomas in the Junior Ryder Cup. Do you remember anything about meeting him as a kid?

JUSTIN THOMAS: I don't. I remember we're around the same age as we played against each other a lot, and he's really, really good, freakishly talented, hits the ball a long way. He's a good dude, too, so it's not surprising to see him play that well. That shot he just hit on 16 was absurd in the situation. So yeah, obviously there's plenty of golf left, but he's been very impressive.

Q. Who are you rooting for tonight?

JUSTIN THOMAS: I'm not necessarily rooting for anybody. I want it to be a good game, but I'm probably -- I'm not betting against Mahomes, that's for sure, and getting to him and Travis a little bit, it would be cool to see them. But I'm not going to be too upset either way.

Q. You and Jordan right now, obviously close friends, both in the top 5. It's been a little bit since kind of seeing you both back in that position. What does it mean for your friendship, for the game of golf to see you guys back in that position here again on Sunday?

JUSTIN THOMAS: I don't know. You can probably answer that question better than me. But we both are -- we love to compete. We love to have chances to win tournaments. Although we both had a good week, we're not going to finish the week satisfied without getting the trophy.

I know we both have really wanted to push each other again and get back doing it out for tournaments, so hopefully this will springboard a little bit of a stretch of that.
