John Parry

Quick Quotes

Q. John, what's working so well in your game right now to be able to produce a round like this and also the season you're having to start?

JOHN PARRY: Yeah, especially today. At like last couple tournaments I've not drove it very well, and then it just becomes hard work.

But today I -- well, last two days I've tweaked me driver a little bit with Ping. They sort of sorted that out Wednesday. That's gave me a little bit more confidence.

And it's a bit of it's me as well. But just I think round here you've got to hit fairways to give yourself chances, and I'm holing my fair share of putts at the minute.

Q. What did you tweak?

JOHN PARRY: I was hitting it miles right, like just slice -- some of it was me, like I was just swinging across it, and then leaving the face open. They moved the weight at the back more to a draw bias. It just encouraged me, and it was down to me to like start swinging a bit more out to the right and just trusting it.

Pretty simple but it was worth it.

Q. Obviously a string of four straight birdies is fun anywhere. Is it especially fun finishing that stretch off on 16?

JOHN PARRY: Yeah, it's phenomenal. Two days in a row, yeah, as well. It's been a good hole for me. Yeah, spectacular hole. It's one you got to just accept what it is and just try and enjoy it. Half them -- well, I know they're enjoying themself, but I think they're enjoying the beer a bit more than the golf.

You just got to accept that's what they're there for. It's great.

Q. What about the other holes? (No microphone.)

JOHN PARRY: Yeah. The big one for me was 14, like a strong hole back into the wind and making a birdie there.

I think I found anyway, because I've done it two days in a row, birdied 13 through to 16, so in my head I feel like it's more scorable.

I think the back nine is more scorable but there is more options, you know chances of stuff going wrong as well, more water around. But you've just got to committed to your shots and hope you hit them well.

Q. I am just curious, like what has this few weeks, this month here been like for you? Your first year on TOUR, I imagine not too many times you've been in front of cameras. What has this stretch of successful golf been like for you?

JOHN PARRY: I've more just -- it's different because obviously the crowds -- we get maybe six events, not like this, but last week maybe, Wentworth and the Irish Open and a few others, so you're slightly used to it.

But it's so constant over here. Every week is massive crowds. But I've just continued doing what I've done for the last sort of two years. I'm not changing anything.

I've actually been a little bit disappointed the way I've played the last few weeks for me. I don't know if it's like the courses and you get penalized more -- obviously last week you got penalized if you hit a bad shot, but I'm pleased that I'm making -- when I'm not quite on it I'm still making cuts, so that's a positive.

Q. Can you give an overall description of how you think you played today?

JOHN PARRY: I played really good. It was a bit scrappy early doors, first couple holes, but after that it was -- I think the key was I didn't hit me irons -- I just look at the stats. Shots gained I was good on the greens but I wasn't hitting it close enough.

Yeah, but I be disappointed I haven't gained with me irons today. It was more hitting the driver like I did yesterday. Try and just putt the same and just hit some decent iron swings and give meself more looks for birdies.

Q. Do you have a favorite hole and a least favorite hole on the it course?

JOHN PARRY: 16 is definitely my favorite hole and the second is my least favorite is because I bogeyed it two days in a row.
