Quick Quotes

Q. How was it out there playing in your hometown? How cool was that today? How fun has the week been?

JAKE KNAPP: Yeah, it was good. Kind of up and down and all around. I didn't play super great but was able to make some birdies on the back nine, or my back nine.

Yeah, this event is fun. I get to have some more friends out this week with me, and obviously sleeping in my own bed is nice, too.

Q. So you were roommates with Brian Campbell a couple years ago. What was it like for you seeing him going from losing his TOUR card in 2017 to winning his first two PGA TOUR events last year and being where he is now?

JAKE KNAPP: Yeah, it was awesome seeing what he did last year getting a couple wins. I mean, especially in Mexico. Kind of going back to back for us was pretty neat. And then John Deere hit some unbelievable shots coming down the stretch.

Yeah, it's been great. We've been friends for a really long time. Known each other since we were little? Obviously lived together. So it's as you cool to see your buddies have success.

Q. About what years were you guys living together?

JAKE KNAPP: We lived together at the end of 2019 through maybe the beginning of the '22, something like that.

Q. So how do you take with the fans and just the cheering, the chanting, how do you take that in, absorb it, but, again, not too much?

JAKE KNAPP: Yeah, I think it's a blend. You got to -- you have to embrace it. There are so many people out here and it can be very loud, especially on the back nine.

So hopefully you hit good shots and people might boo you or say it was a bad shot, whatever, but you just deal with it. I try to put my head down and go to work.

On 16 and 17 it's hard to obviously avoid with everybody right there, but for the most part just try to give yourself a couple good looks at birdie and see what happens.

Q. If you came out here as a fan and just wanted to watch golf, would you go to 16 or almost anywhere else?

JAKE KNAPP: Probably watch the front nine. Probably go on the front nine because there is nobody over there and you can actually see golf shots.

Q. Would you check out 16?

JAKE KNAPP: Yeah, it's probably something you want to experience at some point. Now that I'm on the other end I have no desire to be in the bleachers.
