Q. You like this course so much that you just wanted to play six extra holes today?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I would have preferred not to, but I guess that's just what you've got to do. I played really good in the playoff and I made some key putts there to keep it going and a nice one to finish it off.
Q. You're a pretty big sports fan, and normally when you see guys kind of tie head-to-head kind of as the tiebreaker, were you surprised you had to go back out there after beating him 5 & 4?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: No, I knew the rules. I knew after I lost yesterday that I still kind of controlled my fate in this tournament, and I just came out and tried to play a good round of golf.
The only thing I didn't know, I didn't know we had to wait so long to come back for the playoff. I was a bit surprised with that. I would have loved to have just kept going the way I was playing in the beginning, and Matt did a really good job of regrouping, and he came out and played some really nice golf in the playoff.
Q. What did you do in that break? It was probably two hours or something like that?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: It was pretty long. It was more than that. It was at least two and a half hours. I don't know what time we finished the first one, but I had lunch, sat around, watched some golf, stretched. That's about it.
Q. Did you hit more balls or no?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I re-warmed up for the playoff, but that was it.
Q. Was it tough playing in a playoff with Matt?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: If I would have not known the rule I would have been pretty surprised and a bit frustrated, but I knew the rule going in and so for me it was just -- I knew what I needed to do today and I was fortunate to be able to do that.
Q. But it kind of gives him new life --
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, like I said, he didn't have his best stuff this morning and he came out in that playoff in the afternoon and he birdied a few of those holes, and I mean, the birdie on the first hole was huge. He didn't hit a great tee shot and took advantage of the good break he had, and he had a wonderful pitch there I think on the 5th, and I made a nice putt there to keep it going.
Q. Nice reward you get, right? You get to play Billy, who's kind of taken this place apart the last two years.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, yeah. It'll be a fun match. I haven't had much time to process, but I'm just going to go home and get some rest and prepare for a good fight tomorrow.
Q. Will you go back and look at tape of y'all's match last year?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: No, no.
Q. Do you take something from that, though, playing him last year in the finals?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Not really.
Q. Anything you would have done differently last year?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Made more putts, I guess.
Q. What was the break that Matt got on the first playoff hole?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: The left side over there is kind of a tough spot to play from. His ball I guess rolled out of the bunker and finished on top of it and he had a lie where he could spin it. Other than that, that's the stuff that happens in this game. You get good breaks and bad breaks and when you get the good ones you've got to take advantage of it like he did.
Q. I didn't catch what happened at 6. How long was your birdie putt?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I hit a really good second shot in there. I thought it was going to be close, but we got a weird gust and it came up just short. Then I had a pretty touchy little pitch and I hit a decent shot under the hole and I made about a five-footer probably.
Q. I don't think your name or your wins are on the winning wall at UT Golf Club yet. Have you been kind of keeping in touch with J.P. or anything about that and kind of pushing him along?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: No, no, I actually haven't been out there in a while. I miss going out there. Maybe I'll call him after this.
