Q. We hear that match play brings out a different personality in players. What does it bring out in you?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Nothing too dissimilar, maybe a little bit more risk at times, just based on what's going on. But for the most part, I feel like this -- I haven't had a whole lot of success at this event, a pretty decent in match play overall, but I try to worry a little bit more about myself than my opponent. You'll react to your opponent at times, but for the most part, I've just been trying to worry about myself.
Q. Tomorrow you get Tom Hoge as your opponent. He shot 62 at THE PLAYERS a couple of weeks ago. What's your game plan against a player who hits his irons as well as he does?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, react to whatever situation he puts me in, but for the most part, like I said prior to this, just worry about myself. If I play good enough golf, I'll be able to take care of it.
Q. Nothing comes easy here. You're 3-up in this match on the back nine. He would not go away, but you close him out here at 17. Your thoughts on your win?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, it was pretty solid through most of the day and then I had two really bad driver swings in the middle of the round, which is not a time you want to have 'em. You never want to have bad driver swings, but when you're 3-up, you want to close it out and carry that momentum through the final holes. I didn't do that, so I made a little bit dicey here coming through to the finish. So just happy to close it out.
Q. Seven birdies, just a couple of bogies. What do you like about what you're doing right now? What needs to improve tomorrow?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Just probably going to go to the range to clean up a few tee shots. I hit the ball really, really well against Cam Davis my first round, my first match. It's probably the best I've played in quite some time in terms of controlling my ball in pretty much everything.
So today a few more mistakes. It was a little bit windier. But yeah, I want to control my ball a little bit better and sort of play better golf as the days go on.
Q. Two points for you. You got Tom Hoge tomorrow. Thoughts on that match and the position you put yourself in?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: He's going to be playing with nothing to lose. It's always one of those tricky situations where you're going to -- when Tom's got nothing to lose you see 62s out of him. So I'll have my hands full tomorrow. I need to clean up what I'm doing, because I'm expecting him to come out hot.
