MACKENZIE HUGHES: Mackenzie Hughes. Mackenzie Hughes.
Q. How did it look being here on Wednesday afternoon?
MACKENZIE HUGHES: Yeah, I needed help. I needed Jordan to lose. So once you lose the opening match -- I was in that same boat last year, lost to D.J. -- now I need help the rest of the way. I actually won my two matches last year but didn't get any help from D.J.
Behind the eight ball after Wednesday. At that point, all I can do is try to win a couple matches and see what happens.
I played really nice golf the last two days to get it done. Yeah, I mean, it's a long way from where I was Wednesday afternoon, though.
Q. Did you play bad on Wednesday, or did Jordan play out of his mind?
MACKENZIE HUGHES: I played solid, but not spectacular. I think I might have been 1, 2 under stroke play. So certainly not a bad score.
We tied a couple holes birdies. I gave him two holes, and that was kind of the difference. I gave him two holes where I made bogeys from just kind of not great spots, like pretty basic shots, and I didn't get it done.
I played fine Wednesday, just Jordan played a bit better.
Q. Was there any concern today after you played well and waxed him pretty good, that you've now got to wait two hours and resume the match, so to speak? Did it feel like that?
MACKENZIE HUGHES: There was a part of me that wanted to go to 15 and say let's start here and keep playing and roll the dice from here.
But I knew the rules were in place. The format was the format. I knew that going into the day, that I was going to beat him at some point, if I did beat him, and then wait and have to play another playoff. So I was prepared for that.
Yeah, to sit around and kind of feel like, oh, I've got momentum on my side. He has to kind of take a timeout and kind of reset. He comes out and makes a birdie in one hole, it erases all of my good work from today.
It felt nice to kind of carry that momentum into the 1st hole and kind of stay on the aggressive.
Q. Who do you got tomorrow?
MACKENZIE HUGHES: Max Homa.
