Keith Mitchell

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Keith, 8-under for the tournament. Just some comments on your round today to start.

KEITH MITCHELL: Up and down. Lost it putting for a little bit, then gained it back, and then hit a couple drives left coming in.

So definitely a kind of weird round where things were going and then them left and came back. Just kind of all over the place.

Q. What was the difference in the course today, if there was any from yesterday?

KEITH MITCHELL: Not much. There was a touch of wind this morning, but, I mean, just so slight. So I mean, the weather is about as perfect as you can ask for and the course is playing easy, but playing great because it's in perfect condition.

The better condition the course is sometimes the scores get a little bit lower.

Q. You played this a bunch of times. Which do you prefer? Some your peers yesterday said who played here a long time said they prefer when it's more difficult. What do you prefer?

KEITH MITCHELL: I would think my game would prefer harder, but I'm playing well this week so -- but it's honestly what the viewers and the fans want to see. Do they want to see a chance of shooting 59 or do they want to see us grinding it out to make pars.

Conditions have a lot to do with that, but the overseed and green speeds are another.

Q. I was going to ask, the overseed, you've really noticed /# that and that's been a big difference?

KEITH MITCHELL: Absolutely. There is a couple tee shots that I would never hit driver on because it would go through the fairway, but with the overseed the ball stays short. It looks great, plays great, like a lot of other great venues we have with overseed.

It's not a complaint. It's just when it's overseeded and when there is no wind, scores will be lower. When it's not overseeded and the wind is blowing 15, 20, guys will be struggling to make pars.

Q. They believe, many of them believe, it's the TOUR listening to, in the past, players' complaints if that's the right word about the course and wanting it not to be as challenging. Do you think that's the case?

KEITH MITCHELL: I don't know if that's the case or not. I just know that when it's overseeded and the winds are down it's going to play easier. If it's not overseeded and the wind is up, it's going to play really, really hard.

Whatever the viewership or the fans feel like they want to see around here, I think that's what we should do.

Q. Considering how brutal the Florida swing can be in general, Bay Hill is a beast, the PLAYERS. Is it okay to have a week where it's not going to be single digits under par winning?

KEITH MITCHELL: I mean, I think it's a little bit, again, unfair. If the wind blows like it normally does here I don't think guys will be saying what they said yesterday.

It's definitely just an anomaly.

But to answer your question, if you played four weeks in a row here, Bay Hill, PLAYERS, and Valspar, and none of them were overseeded and the wind blew like normal, I don't think you can physically or mentally finish it would be so difficult.

And leading score would be in the single digits every week.
