Q. Jake, they say it's really difficult to follow up a great round with your next round. How would you assess the way you did that today?
JAKE KNAPP: Yeah, I've never had to follow up a 59 at a tournament before. It's all new to me. Yesterday everything was just clicking ball-striking wise, distance control felt really good, was able to control flight and windows; all that was perfect.
Today I think the winds were kind of stop-and-go and just kind of misjudged a few things, but overall felt like I was still making good passes at it. A couple wayward shots but nothing too concerning.
Q. Kind of circling back to yesterday, even though I know you're trying to look forward and win this thing, but in terms of your round yesterday, where does that rank in terms of your golfing life essentially?
JAKE KNAPP: I mean, it's hard not to put it kind of as No. 1 right now that I can think of. Obviously winning in Mexico is for sure No. 1, but then shooting 59 out here -- I don't think I realized how few times or how few people have actually done it. I'd say it's pretty high up there. I don't know where exactly to put it on the list, though.
Q. As we move forward, as 59s and 58s have become more prevalent, anytime there's a 59 watch are you going to be rooting for that person to not get it so your feat kind of stays up there?
JAKE KNAPP: No. I think even if you look at like the records and how many more 59s there are recently versus I think the first one we were looking -- first one got shot in '77, then it was '91, then it was 2010 basically. They got pretty spread out after a while. I think now all of a sudden there was a couple last year and one obviously this year.
I think it might start to happen a little bit more often.
Q. You're at the top of the leaderboard right now. Thoughts heading into the weekend?
JAKE KNAPP: Yeah, I think it all stays the same. Obviously today wasn't as great. I'll go out and practice a little bit and make sure a few things are cleaned up. But for the most part you can't really overdo it on this course. You can't overpower it or anything like that. Just got to take what it gives you. Days like yesterday when the conditions are perfect and everything else you can take advantage, but I'm sure we'll have some wind tomorrow afternoon. Just try to give myself as many birdie looks as I can and just play good, boring golf.
