Q. Flurry of birdies there to finish. Right now at least have the clubhouse lead. What did you like about how you played today?
RUSSELL HENLEY: I hit it amazing. Hit it great off the tee, got the ball in the fairway a lot, which is key around here. Key any week on TOUR but definitely around here. Just hit a lot of really quality iron shots. It was pretty stress-free, and played the difficult holes pretty well, too.
A couple par saves early on 5 and 6 that were really big to keep the momentum going, and just felt really comfortable with how I was hitting it.
Q. How did the course play today compared to the previous two days?
RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, it's firming up. It's getting a little bit baked out on the greens. Some of the spots in the fairways are getting a little firmer. Pretty typical of what you see here when you don't get rain.
Q. I think in the last 18 months you've missed one cut, PLAYERS last year. Does this feel like as consistent as you've been in your career?
RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, I think my last three years are my most consistent. Just feel like I've really started working hard on everything very consistently about six, seven years ago, and I feel like I'm starting to see the results of it and just getting a little more confident.
I've been blessed to not get hurt, yet, and I have a tremendous support system with my wife and family. I just feel really comfortable with everything I'm doing.
Q. You say it's been seven years of working at it consistently. You probably hoped to see top, top results -- you always want to see them sooner, right? How has it been being patient with it coming and seeing incremental progress as opposed to huge spikes?
RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, this game is just so humbling. I get excited about little victories, little improvements. I've just tried to keep my head down and work diligently. I know that I'm not the longest player out here, and some things feel a little bit harder to me than maybe some of the guys, the way it looks for other guys. But I've just tried to stay really competitive with myself and keep pushing myself.
