Q. Michael, another week of you back in contention. How was the game feeling in particular today?
MICHAEL KIM: It felt pretty shaky on the front nine. Didn't hit it so great, but I got some fortunate breaks. Was able to take advantage of it with my second shots and my putting. I scrapped it around and kind of got it figured out towards the back nine. I have a good chance heading into tomorrow, which is all I can ask for.
Q. Three great results coming into this week. Again in contention. When is the last time your game has felt as consistent?
MICHAEL KIM: I felt when I was on the Korn Ferry TOUR about three or four years ago, I felt like I was playing really well for a couple-month stretch there. I felt like even last year, the game was there. It just was a thing here or there that screwed me up during the week. But I've been able to, like today, just figure it out as the day went along, and really proud of that.
Q. Early season still, but if you were to look at your statistics, driving improvement would be one of the big ones. Anything in particular you worked on over the off-season or have been working on?
MICHAEL KIM: I changed a little bit with my ball position, went a little more back. I shortened my driver by half an inch, and I saw good success towards the end of the year with that. Just kind of kept it going into this season, and happy with the results.
Q. Obviously the chipping is kind of the story of that with Joe Mayo and everything. You never know, you make a change, maybe it can work for a week and maybe it doesn't sustain, but how have you been able to implement it and run with it the last month?
MICHAEL KIM: Yeah, it's been a huge part. I chipped it well today, been chipping it well since that lesson with Joe, and looking forward to hopefully not relying as much on it tomorrow, but if I have to, then hopefully it shows up tomorrow, as well.
Q. What have you learned about being in contention, even just most recently? You've obviously contended a lot over your career, but the feels the last couple weeks?
MICHAEL KIM: Yeah, for me, it's been more about my game than it is about being in contention. If I feel good with my game, I've always felt like I was fairly comfortable even in contention. I'm sure I'll be nervous tomorrow, but as long as I feel like my game is there, then I'll know I have a chance.
Q. Just that sequence on the 15th hole, shot hits the rocks, goes over, can you take me through that hole?
MICHAEL KIM: Yeah, I thought it was a decent swing but the wind pushed it over way more than I thought. When it hit the rocks, I was kind of waiting for a splash. Went long, and the volunteers made this weird signal that I had no idea what they were saying. But Smylie kind of said, you should take a look at least. So went over there, I was pleasantly surprised at the lie, was able to just knock something on the green and two-putt, get away with bogey.
