Quick Quotes

Q. Tyler, off to a good start, 2-under 68 to get the round going. One of the things I heard over here was you telling 'em how you believe in yourself. If you could just talk about the importance of that and how it worked for you today?

TYLER COLLET: Yeah, absolutely. I think self belief is huge. I don't think if you -- if you don't believe in yourself then there's no reason to be out here and you're not going to succeed. So I think having self belief really counts and really matters. Especially today on a day like today as well as a hard golf course you have to have that self belief.

Q. A couple of the birdies you talked about. 6 and 16. Not easy holes. Take us through those, if you would.

TYLER COLLET: Yeah, we kind of got lucky on 16. I kind of pushed my drive and the wind held it back into the fairway. We had a perfect number. It was 150 to the stick. Slightly in off the right. It was a perfect 9-iron. It worked out. Hit a good shot there.

Then hit a good drive on 6. Let's see, I hit a good shot in there, just over the green. Because that pin was gnarly over there on that back right section. We hit a good shot, ended up on the back side of the green over the slope and it was a tricky chip. Got lucky. Holed out.

Q. How much easier is it for you to play on these bigger stages now that you've done it a couple of times?

TYLER COLLET: It definitely helps. Playing in two major, two PGAs the last two years definitely helped. This isn't as big of a tournament, but it's still very, very large. It's a PGA TOUR event and it definitely helps. Feel a little bit more comfortable. Like I said, I think I belong out here, so that definitely helps.

Q. You mentioned feeling like you belong out here. Could you talk about your aspirations as a professional golfer?

TYLER COLLET: The goal's always to play out here. So that's my goal and that's what I'm striving towards.

Q. Your gallery was pretty large. What did that mean to you today?

TYLER COLLET: It was great. I was telling 'em over there, being a PGA professional, working at a facility we did a little fun thing where we bought some tickets and had the members come out. So 60 of those people were members. Also my family. So it was great.

Q. From a family standpoint, you got a new fan out there who might not remember it, but having a little one out there what did that mean?

TYLER COLLET: It's his first event he's been out and, man, it's special. It's really special.

Q. What does working with a coach done for you?

TYLER COLLET: Tremendous. My coach Sal Spallone, he can't be here the first couple days, but if I'm playing the weekend he'll be here on Sunday. So, tremendous. He's gotten my dispersion being tighter. Just having more confidence in myself really. That's it.
