Q. Will, nice start. If we can get some comments on your play.
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, admittedly I'm a little fried from last week. Coming out the gates making a couple birdies was nice.
Kind of set the tone for the day. Really just the one mistake all day, and I don't regret the decision. It was just really a bad shot. It is what it is, especially after last week.
So yeah, nice to finish with three in a row.
Q. Take us through this shot you're talking about.
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, I blocked it out right on 2 and I had a pretty big hallway. It was ten yards wide minimum and I was trying to get something underneath the tree and hit it up onto the green, and maybe even get it on.
Either way would've been easier than punching out or another option. Just kicked it out of bounds and made kind of a nice par on the second hole.
Q. First time here at RBC Heritage. Just get some comments on what you thought of the golf course.
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, I love it. It's really good for me. It's obviously pretty tight. You put it on the wrong side of the fairways you're going to have to shape it around some trees, but I'm not afraid to shape the golf ball, so I really love this place.
Q. First time out on this golf course in this competition. What did you think? You finished 3-under. Thoughts on how well you played today.
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, still a little fried from last week. I thought coming out of the gates and playing some pretty solid golf set the tone for the rest of the day. Really just the one mistake that even I still don't regret because I don't think it was -- it was worth it.
Just hit a bad shot. It was a ten-yard-wide window about 30 feet tall. I think, what, is there 120 guys this week, and I probably would have been the only one that couldn't fit it through that window.
Q. There was a lot of publicity coming off Augusta last week. You got to come out and play another round of golf. Were you nervous today? Were you wondering how it was going to go? Are you happy the way it went?
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, I was. Wasn't really that nervous. Obviously it's fun because I been watching Billy and DJ play for probably the better part of ten years, so obviously it's fun to be playing with world No. 1, and see it up close in person.
You know, obviously I have a job to do, so I thought I did a nice job today of kind of staying patient knowing that I probably wasn't going to be as mentally fresh. Overall pretty pleased.
