Q. 6-under 65 today; huge putt there on the last, as well. What are your takeaways from the round?
COLLIN MORIKAWA: I think overall it was probably one of the best rounds I've played all year. It's surprising to say I've had some fueler rounds out there, but from tee to green and even on the putting, I didn't make many mistakes and got away with a little heavy shot on 18 and was able to capitalize on some birdies.
Q. You've said that consistency is something that you struggle with. How did you feel about your consistency after today?
COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, it was really good. I didn't really struggle or have to like focus too much on the par putts. Speed was really good, and that's going to be the biggest thing for me. If I get the putter hot, we can start making some birdies, so I've just got to keep that going the next three days.
Q. You finished in style there with that 21-footer on the 18th. What did you see there to close out the round with your seventh birdie?
COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah. The putts were feeling really good today. Speed was really good, and really wasn't too much break on that last hole, so I knew if I gave it a good shot we could get it to the hole. Always nice to finish on a birdie.
Q. We saw you play a lot of great shots today, but I want to sing will out the bunker play at 17 because that's that long in-between style bunker shot, and you made it look easy.
COLLIN MORIKAWA: I got really lucky. I actually thought the ball was going to be plugged. There actually wasn't too much sand, so I got really, really lucky not having the ball plug in there. That's when you want to capitalize and keep a round going.
Q. What sort of tone does this set for you the rest of the way here at the RBC Heritage?
COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, I think it gets things started, puts a lot of confidence in my game. I feel like my game is trending in the right direction. Just got to be a little more consistent. Three more days of the same thing, we'll see what happens.
Q. Great round, 16 greens. Was that the key for you today, the iron play specifically on this golf course?
COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, I mean, the greens out here are pretty small, but you have to make putts, and the putter felt really good, the speed felt really good, and overall just kind of my entire game was really solid today. I had a couple mistakes, but overall it's really one of the best rounds I've played all year.
Q. Did you come in here expecting to play well or did this round surprise you a little bit, to play this well in these conditions?
COLLIN MORIKAWA: I think after playing at Augusta, it got me thinking about my game and what I really need to focus on. The past couple days my game has felt good. Coming into a week like this, you start hitting some good shots, you build a little momentum and see where it takes you.
