Q. Corey, start with the 7th hole, your 16th of the day. Talk about the hole-in-one, if you could.
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, I hit a 7 iron. The wind was blowing from left to right. I seem to like that wind direction, holds my natural shot shape pretty straight. So I was trying to be aggressive, hit a solid 7-iron there, just trying to make sure I covered the front of the green where I know the ball kind of releases to where the pin was.
Saw it land. Just kind of stopped watching it. The hole wasn't really in view. A bunch of people put their hands up around the green, so I figured it went in.
That was a great shot, definitely one that I'll be able to draw on for the rest of the week hopefully.
Q. When you hear that your four holes-in-one in the last three seasons are the most on TOUR of any player, what's your reaction to that?
COREY CONNERS: I think it's pretty cool. There's a lot of luck involved to make it. I guess, if you hit enough solid iron shots, you'll get lucky time and time again. So it's been pretty awesome to have made four. Hopefully they keep coming, but I'm probably done for a while now.
Q. With the rest of your round, what else is working so well for you today?
COREY CONNERS: I think when I was in the right position, I hit really good, solid shots. Some nice wedge shots early on in the round to get me under par. A couple mistakes, but I stayed pretty level headed out there, was patient, and was able to convert a few birdies on the second nine I played.
Obviously, the ace is pretty nice on the scorecard as well.
Q. Especially with the short commute from Augusta to here, does the play really transition from how well you played last week to coming in here?
COREY CONNERS: For the most part, I try to continue sort of the same way and have the same game plan and the same freedom that I played at Augusta. Very different golf courses, but I feel like I did a lot of things well last week and tried to continue to do that here today. Hopefully we can continue the rest of the weekend.
It was definitely a demanding week last week, so I tried to get rested up as well as I could the last few days. Yeah, I'm excited for this week.
Q. Do you feel different in majors, big events, than you did maybe a year or two ago?
COREY CONNERS: I think across the board I just feel a little bit more comfortable. I've had good results in many different events. I'm beginning to trust my game a lot more and take confidence from the things I do really well. Just trust myself out there.
Q. With your good iron play and your ball striking in particular, do you feel this course is a strong suit to your game?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, definitely. I've learned to really like this golf course and have played well here the last couple years, a place I'm always excited to come.
RBC does a great job putting on the event. The golf course is in awesome shape. Definitely sets up well for someone who hits it relatively straight. Yeah, hopefully I can continue doing that.
Q. Corey, how cool is it to have the fans back at this event? They're such an integral part of this event.
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, it's amazing. There's a lot of support out there. There's a ton of Canadian people down here supporting the Canadian players, just all the guys. It's great to have them back. It was a fun atmosphere out there and definitely made the ace a lot more enjoyable today.
