Quick Quotes

Q. Really solid round. Looks like you played your way into the final pairing tomorrow. Just kind of take us through how the day went.

ANDREW NOVAK: Yeah, it was really solid. Played kind of boring golf. I thought there were a decent amount of tough pins out there today, pins you couldn't really go at. So I just made sure, on the par holes, to leave myself in the right spots. When I had a chance at birdies, I did a pretty good job of taking care of most of them.

Q. Have you learned about what you feel like when you're in contention coming down the stretch from these last couple months kind of being in there that you feel like you've noticed you can apply or work on for tomorrow?

ANDREW NOVAK: I'm more comfortable with it. I'm not saying I'm perfect or great at it yet. I think I've gotten better each time.

You've got to be a little bit more patient. Things can get to you more quicker when you're under stress, but it's just about how you handle it.

I think tomorrow I could play good golf, bad golf, whatever. I've got to handle it. I'm still up near the lead. If I hit a few bad shots, I've got to do the best I can to make pars with them.

Q. How do you define patience for you?

ANDREW NOVAK: Like I was saying, I would say, when I get stressed or more tired or frustrated, I'll have a quicker temper or things can maybe last a little bit longer, as far as like being frustrated over something. That can kind of leak into other shots. I think I've gotten better about that.

Being like near the lead is almost like being at the end of a six or seven-week stretch, you have less patience. Stuff will get to you quicker. It's just about managing that.

Q. You said kind of when you haven't had your best stuff, a lot of times you're fighting your swing recently. Any fighting this week?

ANDREW NOVAK: I hit a few today that I wasn't super happy with, but luckily when I've missed, at least I made sure to miss on the proper side.

The tee shots have been pretty good so far. It's just a few iron shots. At least, if I miss on the proper side, my short game can kind of clean it up.

Q. A couple of these Signature Events, you've kind of gotten in, not even off the swing time, just kind of back filling the fields. What would it mean a win or a top finish tomorrow to kind of make it so you're not straddling that line?

ANDREW NOVAK: It's really hard to get in these. It would be nice to not have to worry about that. There's a lot of good things that come with the win. That's part of it. There's a lot of incentive out here to win.

I'm playing for a lot tomorrow. I know it, but I'm excited to do it.

Q. What family's in town for you this week?

ANDREW NOVAK: I've got everybody. I've got my parents, my wife, sisters, brothers. I've got Wofford people.

By the middle of the first fairway, I had my middle school, my high school, my college shouted out. I had my college dorm room shouted out at one hole. Everything, all day long, it's awesome.

Q. How many people are we running deep then?

ANDREW NOVAK: Specifically that I gave tickets too within the parameter, how many are allowed, but I grew up not far from here. People came down, and they're showing some support.
