Quick Quotes

Q. Rickie, you and Kurt both together, what was it like feeding off each other and both being in the mix into the weekend here?

RICKIE FOWLER: Yeah, it's been nice the last two days. Really enjoyed playing with Kurt. I feel like we're both fairly quick players, so cruising around and nice to be out in twosomes this week, and then being out early, we kind of cruised through. I'm pretty sure we were definitely under four hours.

Solid day for both of us. Kurt got more out of it than I did, but yeah, it would have been nice to have a few more putts go in. But yeah, it's always tricky around this place. Definitely happy to at least continue to move forward.

Q. How do you compare today and yesterday?

RICKIE FOWLER: I would say overall probably fairly similar. I made a couple more putts yesterday. I had a few that were close, just had some misreads. Still hit a lot of quality shots, so can't be too disappointed.

Q. Yesterday you talked about making your first start here 18 years ago as a 19 year old. In terms of how you feel inside the ropes, whether nerves or stress, kind of shot to shot, how do you think you are with that compared to when you were starting your career? Is it similar or would it be different?

RICKIE FOWLER: We still get nerves and dealing with that, depending on where your game is at and different things like that. I feel like I'm much more of a mature golfer nowadays. But going back to that week, first time I played, even though I missed the cut, I felt like that was kind of the first time that I really knew that I could play out here. I didn't have my best stuff, and like I said, I missed the cut I think by one or two. It was nice to have that opportunity.

The amount of chances guys and girls are getting to play as ams in tournaments these days is much more than it used to be, and it definitely helps for the future. Definitely helped me. It was a special week for me to be able to have that back then. Like I said, it only helps for when you do turn and start to play as a job or for a living.

Q. Going off what you said there, do you feel like kids out of college are naturally more ready to compete and be high on leaderboards now than a couple decades ago?

RICKIE FOWLER: I think there's just probably more of them, and I think a lot does -- you have to give some of that to the opportunities that they're getting to play in some events and at least get their feet wet because it only helps. Whether you play well or play poorly, just to get a taste and see how it is. With the more opportunities, I think you're seeing more guys and girls have more success early on when they do turn pro.

Q. Do you remember anyone you met that week, your first week out here on TOUR, any cool conversations with any veterans or players that stuck with you?

RICKIE FOWLER: That week, I remember I played the first couple days with Ryuji. Still a good friend. He was fun to play with. Played a practice round. Actually knew Daniel Chopra prior to that, so we played a practice round together on Tuesday. I was lucky enough to know a handful of guys, but to be out here and teeing it up against them was special. It's always fun to come back to Hilton Head.
