Quick Quotes

Q. Billy, just get some comments on your play.

BILLY HORSCHEL: Yeah. We played a really solid round of golf today and some different winds, then greens drying out. I think Sam and I are both going to be frustrated because I still feel like, not only this year, but going back to last year, we haven't come close to making our fair share of putts or getting our fair share of breaks.

It may sound like I'm crying or whining about stuff, but when you play with other guys -- and the other teams in the group, and you're seeing some stuff happen with them, you're sort of like, hey, where's our stuff?

You know what, we played a really good round of golf today. We gave ourself a chance going into tomorrow, depending on what the leaders do. We would have loved to get at least one, if not two, on the last hole.

Sam, I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful 3-wood.

SAM BURNS: It's the best shot I've ever hit in my life, literally.

BILLY HORSCHEL: It ended up in the water. It landed eight feet from the hole.

SAM BURNS: Landed on the green.

BILLY HORSCHEL: When you watch that shot and see what happened, you can understand some of our frustration out there, not only this year, but going back to last year.

Q. Sam, your thoughts on the day. Obviously you're thinking about that shot, but overall?

SAM BURNS: Solid. We could have shot a couple more, I feel like, but with the way the day kind of went, I guess we'll take 9.

Q. Talk a little about the crowd support you get at this event.

SAM BURNS: It's been awesome. I look forward to coming to this event every year. It's definitely one of my favorites, seeing all the purple and gold out there and hearing the LSU chants and the go Tigers, it's a blast.

Q. A lot of low scores today, kind of throughout. Do you feel like, though, the 9-under at least gets you guys back in position to do something tomorrow?

SAM BURNS: Somewhat. The more challenging format is tomorrow, so you never know.

BILLY HORSCHEL: I would love to -- would have loved to have got to 21 obviously. What are we at, 20? Would have love to have got at least two or three more. I could easily say there was a couple putts out there we thought we made. Just sort of fathomed that they didn't go in the hole.

As long as it doesn't get too far away, as long as the lead is somewhere around 24, then it gives us a relatively good shot tomorrow with a tough format.

I'll tell you what, I think both of us are going to hope that the wind blows like it did today because obviously then that makes it even more challenging.

Q. What did you guys think when you saw that 9-under 63 from Cantlay and Xander yesterday?

BILLY HORSCHEL: They're a great team. There's no doubt about it. Two world class players, I think two top ten players in the world or just outside. I don't know where they stand exactly.

Great playing. They had perfect conditions from what I could tell. No wind. Conditions were soft. It's not shocking to see two world class players take advantage of the right conditions and shoot a wonderful round of golf. I think we both believe we have that in us as well.
