Quick Quotes

Q. Fun day?

NICOLAI HØJGAARD: We had good fun today, yeah.

Q. Talk about how the conditions changed when you started when it was no wind, lift, clean and place? Seems like things are picking up a little bit now. Walk me through how it started and how it finished.

NICOLAI HØJGAARD: It started out being perfect conditions. The only thing was even though we played with if you clean the ball or pick and clean, you still get a little bit less spin on the fairway, so it was still a little bit wet so you didn't have to control it as such.

But there was a few holes and then the sun came out and you had perfect conditions. But there's barely no wind and we took advantage of that to start with.

Q. What were your thoughts as the day was going on?

RASMUS HØJGAARD: Yeah, similar. Probably couldn't get any better conditions out there. Again, lift, clean and place, so even some of the shots around the greens gets a little easier because you can place the ball. As the day went on, a little bit of wind showed up, but still out there right now, it feels quite comfortable with the amount of wind there is.

Q. At an event like this what is your expectation when you're driving to the golf course and you're seeing the trees aren't moving as you're warming up, do you get an expectation or think about a number that knowing what this tournament is we kind of want to be at this level?

RASMUS HØJGAARD: I think last year we both had high expectations about going out and making a ton of birdies and we didn't do that last year so it was a bit of a wrong mindset to go into it.

Now today we didn't think too much about getting to a certain score or anything. It was more about creating a good vibe and create chances out there, and then we both rolled the putter well.

Q. I can't believe I'm asking you about scoreboard watching on a Thursday, but were you aware of other scores being posted or do you need to pay attention and not get overly anxious if you make a par instead of a birdie or an eagle?

NICOLAI HØJGAARD: I would say we had a quick look at 8, 7 or 8, and we saw there was a group out there shooting a really low score. That'll be interesting to see what they shoot. But to be fair, we've just got to focus on ourselves and our own golf and just try to plug away and try to cover each other when we're out of position. That's kind of what we did today really well.

Q. Do you think Luke Donald was watching or do you hope he was watching?

RASMUS HØJGAARD: I'm not too sure what his tee time was today, but I'm very sure he's more focused about his own game today.
