Q. 4-under start today. Just overall thoughts on the round?
BRENDON TODD: Yeah, it's a good score, always a good score at this golf course. It's a tough test. I was doing everything pretty well. I hit some good wedges, some good approaches in there, and short game was pretty tidy, some good up-and-downs on 13 and 6. I even hit four or five putts I thought were going in that didn't go in, so I really felt good on the greens.
Q. When you say regrettable bogeys, soft bogeys?
BRENDON TODD: Yeah, I hit a perfect drive on 7. I had 135. The wind here is always going to flutter back and forth, especially on a day where it's only blowing 4. It was just a -- it could have been just been an easy pitching wedge shot and I tried to cut a nine in there and shortsided myself and made a bogey. And then 8, probably just a little carryover, just lack of commitment after kind of deflating there on 7, led to another bad shot, shortsided, made another bogey. So, yeah, I would like to get those swings back.
Q. What did you hit on 8?
BRENDON TODD: 6-iron. But I chunked it and I can't even tell if the wind hurt it or not because I hit it so bad.
Q. Even when you have good conditions here, there's not a lot of letup in this place, is there?
BRENDON TODD: There's not. This was the day, this was the week, where it was like, we can go low here. My game felt good. I was kind of doing what I thought I should do out there because this was probably the most scorable as I've ever seen it. But we'll see what the weather does tomorrow.
Q. You hadn't played here much, maybe once in 2017 or so?
BRENDON TODD: Yeah, once or twice. It seems like I play here half the time. I just don't have any good results. I like the golf course. I think it suits my eye, sets up good for me, but I don't think I have one good week. So this is the week. This is the year.
Q. Is that crazy as a player? Like, you say you like the golf course and it looks like it would fit you nicely --
BRENDON TODD: Yeah, I mean, I'm the shortest hitter in the field each week, so I've got to have a lot of things go right to contend. Putting's a big part of it. So if it's a place where I putt well, I think I have a chance. If it's a place where I haven't putted well, like here, then, you know, good luck.
Q. Greens were good?
BRENDON TODD: Yeah, the greens really are the best I've ever seen them. They have got good Bermuda coverage and then just the nice overseed rye to kind of fill 'em in. But they're just receptive and they're rolling a good speed and really pure right now.
Q. Is there a course that you do well at that you probably shouldn't do well at and you wonder how do you that?
BRENDON TODD: I have got a top 10 to top 20 at Quail Hollow and it's pretty long. I've made the last four cuts at Bay Hill and just finished sixth. Everybody's like, how did you do that? So there's a couple, but there's probably more places I wish I could do better at that I don't.
Q. What's the one course that you should do better at the most that you don't?
BRENDON TODD: Last week's a good example. I don't think I have a top 20 there. It's a placement golf course, so a place that distance is not as big of an advantage. That's definitely one of 'em. I haven't played Augusta enough, but if I get back, I would like to do better there.
