Q. What did you like about the round out there today?
JOAQUIN NIEMANN: Yeah, it started pretty good. I thought I was going to catch Sebastian's round, the way I started, but didn't get that fire going on the other holes.
But, yeah, I putted pretty good the first couple holes and then it was hard to get it going, I gave myself a lot of chances on the back nine and still didn't do it. But still pretty good round, I'm happy the way I'm playing and the position I am for the weekend.
Q. You mentioned Sebastian and his 60 yesterday. I know you guys are friends, did you talk to him at all about yesterday's round?
JOAQUIN NIEMANN: Yeah, we were texting yesterday and I played late yesterday, so I saw his score before I teed off and I played pretty good the front nine, yesterday I think I shot 4-under and I told him I'm still 8 behind and I have nine holes to go, like, all right. (Laughing).
Q. When you see a number like that, before you even tee off, what sort of mindset do you go into, does it change anything from your original game plan?
JOAQUIN NIEMANN: Yeah, you know that before start of the week you know that it's going to be, this is one of those courses that they score pretty low, so you kind of have that mindset a little bit before the tournament. I know 12-under was really impressive, but, yeah, you know they're going to go pretty low during four days and hopefully Sebastian has another 12-under today.
Q. Do you like those type of courses that you can just come out and shoot birdies all the time?
JOAQUIN NIEMANN: Depends. I mean, sometimes I do like it, but I prefer where you got to play good and not score too low.
Q. Looking ahead to the weekend, what do you think, if anything, you need to shore up going in?
JOAQUIN NIEMANN: My game off the tee has been pretty good this week and if I can hit it a little closer I think it would be nice (laughing).
