Quick Quotes

Q. Dustin, 5-under par 67. Nine birdies in the opening round; 5 on the front nine; the second nine, four birdies, four bogeys. Happy or a little disappointed?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: Yeah, I mean, pleased. Swinging well. Obviously few mistakes, but more -- one was a three-putt. Couple iron shots just missing wrong side.

Other than that, I played well, drove it good, hit a lot of really nice iron shots and rolled the putter pretty well. Missed quite a few that -- you know, makable putts, but it's just golf.

But, yeah, I'm definitely pleased with the round. Shooting 5-under is a good score.

Q. That iron play, even by your high standards, the first 11 holes you were knocking the stick out, including a lip-out on hole 2. You must have impressed even yourself.

DUSTIN JOHNSON: Yeah, I hit a lot of nice ones obviously with the wind, controlling the distance. 'Was hitting the right numbers.

For me, I feel like I swing the irons good, but it was getting the ball in the fairway, and that's what -- I drove it nicely today, so if I can continue to drive it well, then I'll continue to play well.

Q. Only your ninth start this year. Big stretch of golf coming up with three majors, the FedExCup playoffs, and Presidents Cup. Is that all part of the plan, to come into these events fresh?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: Not necessarily. You know, didn't play any in the fall other than one event, and then, yeah, just with the schedule this year feel like I haven't really played a whole lot of golf, so been harder to kind of get in a rhythm.

But I got a lot of golf coming up here, so hopefully the game will kick in to good form here at the right time.

Q. First event as a married man. Feeling the vibes?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: Yeah, feeling good. Way different than what it was before. Yeah, feeling great.
