Q. Harris, good playing through two rounds. What's been working for you well through 36 holes?
HARRIS ENGLISH: Been kind of doing everything well. Really starting with the putter. My speed has been really dialed in all week, making some good six, seven footers, which you're going to get out here. The wind's picking up. Greens are getting fast. It's just tough to leave yourself a lot of putts out here. I feel like I hit the ball well, played the par-5s pretty well today, just kind of had everything clicking.
It's going to play tough this afternoon. The wind is swirling. It's tough. This golf course is getting firmer and faster. I'm sure right where they want it.
Q. On 3, I saw you drove the green and made the putt for eagle. Is that part of your strategy this week, being aggressive on those holes?
HARRIS ENGLISH: Yeah, on the practice round I was kind of between 3-wood and driver. I feel like with 3-wood, it's going to run through the fairway anyway. I may as well hit driver and go for the green. The last two days, drove that green with my driver, so it's been working.
Q. After getting that win at Sentry, you haven't been back in the top ten since. Has there been one issue maybe the last few months that's been a sticking point for you?
HARRIS ENGLISH: Yeah, I hurt my back at THE PLAYERS. I never really had any back injuries before I had to pull out of THE PLAYERS, and I haven't been 100 percent since then. It's a long year. I know, 31 years old, I'm bound to have a couple injuries. But it's been close. I played well at the Byron Nelson, got 13th, shot 9-under on Saturday. I feel like it's been trending.
I had the last couple weeks off to get ready to go, and I've been working with my trainer a lot, working with my swing coach, and just getting my body feeling good again. It's been all good coming into this week, and it's helped.
Q. Do you have any specifics on the injury?
HARRIS ENGLISH: No, I just tweaked it. Something happened on the range on Wednesday, and by the second hole in the practice round of THE PLAYERS, I couldn't play anymore. Thursday, tried to give it a go, couldn't do it. It's just one of those kind of nagging injuries that I've been dealing with the last couple months, and I feel like I've finally figured out what to do, and I'm on the right track.
Q. How close are you to 100 percent?
HARRIS ENGLISH: I'm pretty close. I felt great today. Morning rounds have been the most difficult with the back injury, especially taking a ten-minute cart ride out to No. 10 this morning, it's tough early in the morning, but I felt good. Did some great stretches and warmed it up properly and felt ready to go.
Q. Going to next week, you're a guy that has had some success at Torrey. How similar do you expect the course to play next week versus what you're used to seeing?
HARRIS ENGLISH: I have no idea. I've always played it in late January, early February. Hopefully, it's going to be firm and fast. I'm excited about playing that course firm and fast. I know it's going to be a beast. I'm looking forward to it. I've never been to Torrey in June.
I've heard great things, seen great things from when they played probably 12, 13 years ago. So I'm looking forward to it.
