Quick Quotes

Q. Did you have to sort of overcome the start? You guys both were kind of out of sorts at the beginning.

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah, we were struggling a little bit, yeah.

Q. How did you manage to sort of dig your way out of it because you actually had a pretty good round.

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah, I mean I just stayed patient, I knew that on the back I could birdie one or two holes, but I was just trying to get it back to level and not make any further mistakes.

Q. Do you and Wilco go pretty far back, how long have you guys known each other?

GARRICK HIGGO: I don't know, probably since we were 10.

Q. Just always playing South African junior events together?

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah, we have been playing all those junior events back home, yeah, school events, all that sort of stuff.

Q. So thrilled then to be paired with him I would think on the weekend on the PGA TOUR?

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah, it made it a lot easier, we could speak a bit of Africans in between shots. My caddie was the only one that didn't know what we were talking about, so that was great. Yeah.

Q. You look like a fairly long hitter yourself, you're not short, I don't think, but have you ever hit it past him?

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah, when he probably hits one off hosel or if he hits it off the toe. But I'm so used to it, we play practice rounds together like for me it's just, I don't even watch where he hits it because yeah, we play different games.

Q. Has he always been long like that?

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah. I mean since he was about 16, I mean, he was always long or always with all of us and then when we turned about, when we turned 16 he just kind of took off and, yeah, he's never looked back since.

Q. Have the two of you guys leaned on like Erik or Charl or Louis at all playing in the States?

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah, I played with Charl and Louis for first time at the PGA, they both helped me a lot, gave me a lot of tips and you could just pick their brains. I can't speak for Wilco, I'm sorry pretty sure they have done the same with him. All the South Africans help each other, which is very nice.

Q. Whose game really has impressed you the most playing at Sea Island as you have?

GARRICK HIGGO: Who has impressed me the most? All of those guys, to be honest. I can't give you one specific guy, but all of them, it was really, I think it was really good prep for these weeks, even for the PGA, there's certain courses there, like Seaside at Sea Island, which is very like Kiawah, so that was great to practice there. Just to play with good players, play money games and all sorts of stuff, it keeps you sharp. So I think that was very good.

Q. Harris is right up there this week too, so...

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah.

Q. What have you learned about your game these last couple weeks playing in the States compared to back in Europe?

GARRICK HIGGO: I mean, I think Europe and South Africa is, has been vital in my game getting to where it is now. The Sunshine Tour, if it wasn't for the Sunshine Tour I wouldn't be here now, so I can't thank the Sunshine Tour and the European Tour enough for giving us the platform to play. And we play so many different courses and different weather -- like rain -- I mean, we play in the rain every second week, you know, so we're so used to hard things, yeah, stuff doesn't bother us much.

Q. It's just golf, though, right, different country, but the same thing?

GARRICK HIGGO: Yeah, exactly.
