Harry Hall

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you characterize the round today?

HARRY HALL: Yeah, I played very nice. Really happy to start with a 64 and hopefully I can keep it up throughout the week.

Q. What was the best part of your game today?

HARRY HALL: Putting. I holed some nice ones on the back nine. Made four in a row probably from outside of eight feet.

Q. How did you find the new greens? Were they good to putt, kind of easy to make putts on?

HARRY HALL: Yeah, so true. Really pure. Not too fast compared to Sedgefield last week, which made the downhills not as frightening, and stayed really aggressive with the putter and got it to the hole on most putts today.

Q. What was the vibe between you and Akshay? You guys are the top two on the board today.

HARRY HALL: Yeah, we chatted a lot throughout the day and I told him at the last there that he always plays good with me. We played against each other at the Walker Cup and I remember being in one of the final groups in Puerto Rico when he got status and he came second and had a great Sunday.

Yeah, it was nice to see him play so good, and what a finish.

Q. Leading the TOUR this season in strokes gained putting. What are some of the keys to your good putting?

HARRY HALL: I've got to keep them a secret.

Q. Is part of it mindset, though? You have confidence, right?

HARRY HALL: I mean, if your fundamentals are good, then no matter what mindset you're in, you should probably make them.

Q. Not a lot of Bermuda in England.

HARRY HALL: Not a lot of Bermuda. Took me a while to figure out how to putt on Bermuda, but I've figured out the grain now, which is good.

Q. What was the other highlight of your day? You mentioned putting --

HARRY HALL: Drove it really nice, too. I struggled to fade it off the tee last week. I hit a the lot of good drives but they just didn't come back. Hit some really nice drives today. I think I only missed one fairway.

Q. You started working with Butch Harmon at the start of the year; is that right?

HARRY HALL: Middle of the last year.

Q. Still going?

HARRY HALL: Still going, yeah.

Q. How has that contributed to the consistent play this season?

HARRY HALL: Yeah, I send him a video most weeks, and he hasn't said much recently, which is probably a good thing. So yeah, I haven't been home for a couple months so I haven't seen him in person, but I still keep in touch with him every week and send him a video and he texts me every round.
