Quick Quotes

Q. How was the start to the tournament for you so far today?

NICK TAYLOR: The crowds were great. Just rocky with the putter, mostly. I didn't drive it particularly well the first nine, but seemed to hit a lot of edges today. So hopefully those drop tomorrow.

Q. You mentioned the crowds. Obviously you are in the marquee group to start this tournament. What's it like having thousands of fans either follow you or be waiting for you at each hole?

NICK TAYLOR: Yeah, it's fun. Usually the morning round for me on a Thursday there's not that many people there. So the energy was high, which was great, gets the adrenaline going, which is fun that early in the morning, gets you focused on what you need to do. Unfortunately, it didn't go my way, but the crowds have been amazing.

Q. Obviously there's a lot of big hitters on this TOUR, but you're playing with Rory and he's when he want to hits it pretty far out there. Does that, what's it like to see a guy launching it the way he can?

NICK TAYLOR: Pendy is no slouch either. I played with him a bunch, so I know what to expect. I'm not going to take on bunkers that they can cover, just got to stick to my own game. I thought I did a decent job of that, just didn't make any putts.

Q. You obviously learned last year that Thursday doesn't win or lose a tournament, so going into the rest of the week what are your thoughts, and are you a different player now than you were at this time last year?

NICK TAYLOR: Yeah, I hope I'm a little bit better. I guess I beat last year by three, so I got that going for me. Yeah, obviously not out of it. I know that personally, but would have liked to have got off to a better start, obviously. Again, the score is out there, the greens are soft, they're receptive, just need to be a little sharper.
