Quick Quotes

Q. Cris, great round today, ten birdies. Can you just talk through your game plan and how you're going to take this momentum into tomorrow?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: Just try to hit fairway, greens, and make putts. I don't know. I think that, once you play the course, it's a pretty straightforward strategy, just trying to go out and execute. That's kind of what I did today, just executed very well.

Had fun with my caddie, and the score kind of took care of itself.

Q. You going sub-60 on the Korn Ferry Tour, how much was that on your mind coming down the stretch?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: Honestly not very much. I was just trying to hit good shots. I was just trying to stay in the present and have fun. That's what I was trying to do.

Q. Going back to that 57 you shot on the Korn Ferry Tour, ultimately you weren't able to win that week. There's always -- it seems the last couple of guys that have shot sub-60 haven't been able to win on the Tour. Just what does a big round like that do to you mentally early on in the tournament? Does it almost feel like you've kind of like shot your best round? What's the mental block that maybe you experienced on Korn Ferry and perhaps has gotten other guys who have gone for those low numbers?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: I don't know, you just kind of have to go through it to see what you need to do. Obviously, now that I went through it, I don't know, I think I would probably just try to relax a little bit more.

I went out the next day in that Korn Ferry event and actually played really good, shot 2-under. There were two completely different courses, so played well. Then the third round, obviously tried to play good and I didn't, and that's kind of when I fall back. Last round I shot 8-under, so that kind of put me back in there.

I don't know, I would just try to go and play golf and have fun. Sometimes you think of the result, and that's kind of where it goes sideways. You have to just kind of go and try to execute the golf shot.

Q. Is that perhaps something you learned from that first experience going really low? Obviously not sub-60 today, but still a very low round early.

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: Yeah, of course. Like I said before, I just want to go and execute each shot. I think everyone kind of sometimes gets ahead of itself -- ahead of themselves and thinking of the result or whatever.

You just want to go out and just hit the golf shots. That's pretty much what it's -- it's very simple to say it, but obviously it's hard doing it. That's kind of what I've been trying to do and trying to find some fun in this game.
