Quick Quotes

Q. Round 1, 5-under. Nice finish. Tell me what you liked about your day.

JUSTIN LOWER: Yeah, I just, I don't know, it was just solid overall. I've been really working hard on driving it better. I've driven it like crap all year. So, yeah, just really trying to get the ball in the fairway. Especially around this place with the rough being so thick. I drove it okay today. Not perfect by any means. But drove it pretty well.

Q. What are some of the things you're working on with your driver?

JUSTIN LOWER: Really just getting it in play, honestly. It's just finding one that I can hit solid and repeat and kind of copy and paste hole to hole. Honestly, just trying to hit a hard cut off the tee and just get it anywhere remotely in play. That's kind of been my struggle all year.

Q. Could you tell us the process of that? When you feel like your driver's bottoming out and you're unsure that that part of your game is at a TOUR level, what does that process of getting better with it look like?

JUSTIN LOWER: It's just a lot of Trackman work. It's a lot of just beating balls on the range. Just trying to get one you can, that feels good, that you can just step up and be confident with. That's kind of the hardest part. But luckily enough we're pretty spoiled out here with all the equipment we have access to. So it's relatively easy to find a good one. You just have to make sure it passes all the tests and everything like that.

Q. When you play as well as you did today what is there that you can do to make sure that you can replicate that effort going forward here?

JUSTIN LOWER: Just kind of keep going really. Just keep the gas pedal down and really just play determined. Don't play just kind of going out there and going through the motions. Just play determined and just go out there and be determined just to post a good score.

Q. What did you make of 18?

JUSTIN LOWER: 18, it's an awkward hole. Just hitting 4-iron off the tee for a par-5. But it's a fun hole. I mean, it gives you, there's some opportunities going in on the second shot if you can get the ball in the fairway and I was able to take advantage of that, for sure.

Q. Would you like to see more quirky holes like that that are kind of a little different to play?

JUSTIN LOWER: I don't know. I like the straightforward holes, honestly. I think you can trick up straightforward holes more than just not trick up quirky holes, for sure.
