Q. 6-under for your opening round. How did you like it today?
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: It was great. I tried to stay as patient as possible and a few putts dropped early. Just kind of got in the flow of the round, and it was a good fun round. Fun round to be out there.
Q. First-year tournament here, but have you seen this course previous to this week?
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: No, not at all. It's beautiful. It's a great course.
Q. Now with the round in, what are you seeing for tomorrow and even for the weekend score-wise?
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: I'm not thinking that far ahead. I'm going to go get lunch with my family and my friends that are here and practice a little bit afterwards and get a good night's rest afterwards and wake up and go do it again tomorrow.
Q. How does course setup match your game out here?
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: It's great. You just drive it well, give yourself plenty of opportunities, and let the putter do its work.
Q. Sponsor exemption, how and when did you find out you would be playing this event?
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: I found out on my 30th birthday. It was very, very special, with a bunch of very close friends and Sean Riley and Riggs from Barstool. They mean the world to me. I'm so happy to be here and just trying to take advantage of the opportunity.
Q. How long ago was your birthday?
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: It was March 20th, so I'm 30, I'm feeling it, and just trying to go on from there.
Q. Was it a phone call or --
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: No, we were playing at Grayhawk. We play in the Saturday game out at Grayhawk with Travis McCutcheon and a bunch of other guys, and it's a great time. It's a lot of fun. They surprised me on like the 11th hole. A few beverages were consumed. It was a lot of fun.
Q. You're playing with KFT --
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: Yeah, full time on KFT.
Q. Any specific preparation going into this week?
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: No, I actually moved houses. I moved to a different location in Scottsdale, and it's just another tournament, so just trying to play my best and see where it puts me.
Q. You mentioned the barstool boys. What does that sponsorship and their partnership mean to you?
ALISTAIR DOCHERTY: It's been amazing. It's really the only reason why I'm still playing. If I didn't run into Riggs at the right time, I don't know if I'd still be playing or standing right here. It's an amazing partnership, and hopefully it keeps going, and we'll bring something big in the future.
