Dunes Golf and Beach Club

Cristobal Del Solar

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: 67 for the second round. How are you feeling heading into the weekend?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: Good. I've been putting in the work, playing good golf, feeling more comfortable. Yeah, I mean, happy to be where I am.

THE MODERATOR: Putting in the work, feeling more comfortable. What areas of your game have you been working on?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: A little bit of everything. Kind of at the beginning of the year it wasn't really the one I kind of wanted, but you know, it's kind of learning, working with my coaches in the right areas. Iron play, off the tee, a little bit of everything.

It's just a matter of kind of clicking everything together. Every day it feels closer and closer, so I'm happy about that.

THE MODERATOR: How motivating is it to see when you are working in those areas that the results are coming in competition?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: I mean, amazing. It's been really close multiple weeks in the past. It's just that extra step that needs to happen. That extra step of consistency and the swing or other parts, but definitely feels it's there. I definitely feel I have the game. It's just everything needs to match up together. Happy to see it matching up all together, so yeah.

THE MODERATOR: Those parts that you've been leaning on your coaches, your caddie, to give you extra motivation to find the step?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: Yeah. My coach came here this week. I haven't seen him in a couple of weeks. He was traveling as well with other players. Yeah, I mean, it's great to put in the work. I have been. There is nothing different from the past. It's just a matter of time. It's coming.

THE MODERATOR: With the Dunes, what are you liking about the course, and what's keys to navigating it this weekend?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: You know, this spot is great. Great course. Greens are rolling really good. You know, the rough is high. What's the word? It rewards you if you hit the fairway.

I have been driving it pretty well. I have been putting pretty well. I mean, overall I've kind of done well, many things. I like Myrtle Beach. The hotel we're at, you know, it's pretty comfortable, pretty close to the course.

My family is here. It's a good area overall, so...

Q. Just a question on the larger scope of things. They have expectations or hopes that one day this would be a big boy event a full field event. Is the course strong enough? Would you be on record as saying, Yeah, it could handle that?

CRISTOBAL DEL SOLAR: I would say so. Yeah, I mean, the course is great. I've actually heard the rumor. I don't know from who, but people are kind of saying it.

Yeah, I think the course is great. It has everything it needs, so I wouldn't say it's -- I mean, it's definitely up for a full field event.
