Q. Mario, 6-under 64. Just assess your round today.
MARIO TIZIANI: Yeah, I hit a lot of greens. I hit it close a lot. I kind of had a game plan of being aggressive. You know, not necessarily from the tee out here because it's not -- you know, being in the fairway is important, so I hit a lot of fairways and then I was able to attack from there.
So I had a lot of chances. I made a few. Turned into 6-under.
Q. Did the weather play a factor at all?
MARIO TIZIANI: You know, a little bit on 18. We had some rain. You know, I didn't play the hole very well anyway, but the grass was wet and I ended up making a six.
Not really. Maybe there for me. Maybe I was a little anxious as well. Other than that it was not a big deal.
Q. Your game has been trending in the right direction. Anything in particular you've been working on?
MARIO TIZIANI: Just working hard. A little self-belief I think goes a long way. You know, that's really -- I think a lot of guys would tell you it's about that.
So I believe the hard work is going to pay off, is and so that's what I'm focusing on.
Q. 17 of 18 greens; why aggressive coming out of the gate?
MARIO TIZIANI: You know, I just, I watch the leaderboards every day. The scores that the elite players are shooting out here, if I think I'm going to win a golf tournament I think I got to play a little more aggressive.
They shoot low scores every round, and I just feel like I have to have that mentality to -- not play, you know, out of my comfort zone, but sometimes I think I play a little bit more not to make a mistake, and you're just not going to win out here playing that way.
I've had a mentality that I'm going to have some self-belief and take on things that I can take on. If I can't, then I'll maybe play a little smarter. My mentality is that I have to be a little bit more aggressive.
Q. Four straight birdies to start and five out of six. What got into you to get that hot start?
MARIO TIZIANI: You know, they were all pretty close. The one green I missed was No. 11. I actually made the putt from the fringe.
So like I said, I think the longest putt was probably that one; maybe 12 feet, and I just kind of rode that out. I just had good clubs in my hand and I was playing from the fairway, so I just kind of wanted to be aggressive.
