Q. David, great week out here. Looks like it'll be your first top 10 this season. Talk a little bit about your week and how proud you are of the finish.
DAVID FORD: Yeah, I'm proud of how I handled the wind gusts, and yeah, some of the bounces I got out there weren't favorable and I hit some bad shots and bad clubs when I didn't need to.
So I had a few spots where I didn't want to be on the golf course today, but felt like my short game kept me in it kind of the whole week. Didn't miss much inside of eight feet this week. Yeah, proud of how I battled. Feel like the ball striking and the driver were what I'm you used to, which was good to see. And to put it together with the putter was special.
Q. How gratifying is it to see the result? Players sometimes say they're playing well; they're just not seeing the results. Is it an extra boost or motivation moving forward to actually see a good result?
DAVID FORD: Yeah, definitely. I think my game has been right where I want it the whole summer. I switched putters about two months ago and feel like it gave me a lot of stability on the greens.
I've been driving the golf ball amazing all year. I hit my irons pretty well towards the end of the summer and into the fall. Yeah, I think the more comfortable I have gotten the more I believe I can win. To come close and to at least have a high finish for the first time as a pro is great.
Q. Earlier this week I know you played some practice rounds with Michael Brennan. He noted he was happy to have that time with you. What do you see in his game? Did you see anything earlier this week? What do you see in your friend?
DAVID FORD: Yeah, he's really good. He hits the ball maybe the longest in the field this week. Probably leading driving distance. He's hitting it straight so he's ripping driver everywhere. When he gets the putter going he's going to be hard to beat any week.
I knew that coming in. I just knew that I had to hit it a little better than I did if I wanted to beat him. Yeah, to see him playing well it's so surprise to me.
He won a bunch in college, maybe, six, seven times.
Q. Eight.
DAVID FORD: Eight, yeah, stuff like that. To see him have success is not a surprise to me. Yeah, I hope he finishes strong and can pull it off.
Q. How would you describe him as a friend and as a competitor? What maybe would you like the world to know about him?
DAVID FORD: Yeah, he's a lot of fun to hanging out with. We've known each other for six or seven years now so when we get together it's kind of like seeing on old friend.
He's fun to laugh with, really fun to compete against. We played each other in some tournaments and then also head-to-head match play once.
So, yeah, just off the course a great guy. Really humble. You wouldn't know that he's one of the best players in the world when he's off the golf course. Yeah, amazing competitor. Really good friend, too.
Q. How did the travel saga end with your parents? Did they get out of the Atlanta airport?
DAVID FORD: I think they did. They texted me I want to say Friday evening that they were going to fly out early the next morning, so Saturday morning when I was going to finish my second round.
I called them after I finished my second round and I think I was tied for the lead that Saturday morning, yesterday morning I guess. Feels like forever ago. They were like, yeah, we're still in the airport.
So I think they had to change planes a few times. They made it here moderately late last night and I think they got some good sleep. Thankfully I tee'd off a little later today, so they were able to watch all 18 holes, which it was great to have them out there. Thankful that the travel ended up working out.
