Q. Career low 63 on the Tour. If we could get some comments on an excellent day.
DAVID LIPSKY: I did everything well today. Drove it fairly well. There were a couple iffy drives but got away with them. Putter was great. Hit wedges close when I had them in my hand and holed the putts. That sort of leads to a 63.
Q. You had 7 of 7 scrambling. That always helps.
DAVID LIPSKY: A lot of those were putting from off the fringe, but I'll take it. Helps the stats.
Q. Take us through the eagle on 14.
DAVID LIPSKY: I'm always in between 3-wood and driver there, but the wind was a touch out of the right, and we're still playing in the morning so it's not going quite as far as the afternoon. I just wanted to hit like a high cut driver, hold the wind, and pulled it off perfectly.
When I actually walked up to the green, my ball was stuck on the slope in the fringe, and I turned away for 30 seconds, and I turned around, and my ball had rolled down the slope to about 15 feet. So I'll take it.
Q. Then in an interesting finish there too, take us through 17 and 18.
DAVID LIPSKY: 17, I was right in between clubs, between a gap wedge and a pitching wedge. I just tried to hit like a punchy chip wedge and sort of double-crossed it, a little bit long left. But I had plenty of green there, and I was just trying to get it close and give myself an easy par putt. Probably halfway there, I thought it was in. I saw it rolling right online. My caddie was like how did you know that was going in?
Then 18, it's a tough drive today into the wind, probably narrowest part of the fairway we'll play on the whole course, and lava rocks on both sides. So it was pretty intimidating. I just heeled it just a little bit, flared out to the right, caught the path. Luckily it bounced over the bad stuff and landed in a flat area, and I was able to get a club on the ball. So just advancing it like 150 yards and set myself up with a good approach.
Q. You played all three years here now. You started off last year well with a 65. What are you learning about this golf course?
DAVID LIPSKY: You've got to hit straight. It's not a short course, but you have to hit fairways to attack these greens. They're pretty undulating. They will get firmer as the week goes on. They can put some tricky pins out there. So being able to control your spin is really important.
Q. Talk a little bit about your goals here for the fall. You're right inside the top 90. I know you want to try to get up into that top 60, 51 through 60. Talk a little bit about your goals.
DAVID LIPSKY: Yeah, it's a little bit where I don't want to fall back and feel like I'm fighting for my card, even though I sort of am. I have a comfortable enough cushion right now where I can just play a little bit more freely.
Yeah, the goal is to try to play well and try to finish in the top 60 and get into those Signature Events or Elevated Events for next year.
