Q. JT, quite a day. Nine birdies and an eagle and a 60. Just get some comments on your career-low round on the PGA Tour.
JT POSTON: Yeah, it was a lot of fun. It was one of those I felt like the low scores were there. You saw that a little bit yesterday. You know, I felt like starting the day I had nothing to lose and was going to go out there and try and birdie every hole.
Got off to a great start. The front nine, my back nine, I started making a lot longer putts and the hole started looking big. That's just one of those feelings you don't want to end. It was just a lot of fun, and fun to do it in front of a lot of familiar faces here.
Q. At what point did you start thinking about the number?
JT POSTON: When I made the putt on seven I knew I had a chance because eight is a pretty reachable par-5. You know, nine is not an easy pin to get close it to make birdie, but I was rolling it so well I felt like if I could give myself a putt I had a legitimate chance.
I also felt like I could make three on eight. That was probably the first time I thought about it.
Q. Take us through the eagle on No. 3.
JT POSTON: Yeah, I kind of hit my drive a little further right than I had all week, so we had a little longer in than we had in the first three rounds.
Austin Eckroat did the same thing and he hit a beautiful 7-wood up there to probably four feet, so he kind of -- I was able to just picture exactly what to do after watching that, which always helps, and just put a good swing on it and fortunate that it ended up as close as it did.
Q. Just take us through the last putt there.
JT POSTON: Yeah, like I said, I was rolling it well. Felt like the hole looked pretty big, so I felt very confident over it.
I just slightly over-read it. One of those from behind the hole I felt like I saw a little bit more break than I did from behind the ball, and just decided to trust a little bit more break and hit a great putt. I didn't hit it too hard which I didn't want to run it five feet by, and making sure I got it there.
Wanted to make sure I hit good putt. I did and it just didn't quite break like I thought.
Q. Are you able to keep perspective on a round where you played so well and ultimately fell a little bit short of the number that you wanted?
JT POSTON: Yeah, for sure. At the end of the day it was a great round of golf, a new career low out here. As much as I would like to shoot that magical 59 number which I've never done, there is so much positives to take away from it. I was pretty proud of how I stayed patient all week.
Felt like the birdies were coming and it was nice to kind of see them all come together on Sunday.
Q. When you think about the week as a whole, having the PGA back in Western North Carolina, how do you think it went and how to you think the area respond to do the event?
JT POSTON: Thought it went very well. Obviously new event; there is a little bit of a learning curve I'm sure. I felt like the fans were great. I know I'm a local guy and went to school close by so that's an element I felt.
I felt like everybody showed up and came to the event. I think they had fun. I'm sure Biltmore will continue to improve as the years come. I'm excited for there to be a tournament here in this part of the state for sure.
Q. When you're close to a history-making round, how much do you have to fight yourself to not think about it too much and just play golf?
JT POSTON: Yeah, you definitely do. The adrenaline starts pumping when you know what's at stake. I knew coming down number nine that a birdie meant it was a historic round.
You try and think back to other scenarios where maybe you had some nerves like that, winning tournaments, being in contention, and how you came out on top.
I had a great win at Memorial earlier this year and I was thinking about that. I had to birdie 18 to get into a playoff in that event. So that was going through my mind, where that's not an easy birdie, but I was able to get it done. Just trying to kind of replicate that and trust that you're playing well and just kind of let it go.
Q. What's the next couple months like look for you schedule-wise?
JT POSTON: We're going to take some time off. Got some trips planned with my family. Going to spend a good bit of time up here in the mountains of North Carolina actually. But just kind of laying low. That was always the plan. I knew I wanted to play here close to home but was going to take some time off.
I know I'll play RSM in Sea Island but outside of that, I think the plan is to rest while we can.
