Q. You just put the first point on the board for the Internationals at this Presidents Cup. Hideki, how crucial was it to go out and lead the team today?
HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: Obviously it was a tough challenge for us, losing five matches yesterday. But Sungjae hit a perfect tee shot on the 1st hole, so that brought us the momentum, so really happy with that.
Q. Sungjae, you played one of the best players from the American team, but you guys played such a wonderful level of golf today, eight straight birdies including one conceded. How proud are you of your performance?
SUNGJAE IM: Yesterday the beginning was not really a nice beginning, but today from the beginning our vibe was vibing and we were trying to win the match. With Hideki our teamwork was amazing. When I would hit the shot, he would finish with the putt, so it was a great job.
Q. How would you describe after what happened yesterday, the intent and the focus you and your teammates had today?
HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: We had a tough start the first match. Five losses wasn't the result we wanted to have. But we knew that we could come back from this.
Sungjae hit a perfect shot on the 1st hole, so I think that really brought the momentum. So really happy.
Q. Did you feel a responsibility, you and Sungjae, against two great players to come out and get that early point to set a tone?
HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: Yeah, we knew it was going to be a tough challenge today, not just them, but we knew any opponent was going to be tough.
Q. Did you know about their record in foursomes?
HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: I didn't. We were just really focused on our game. That was really important for us.
Q. What club on 11?
HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: 6-iron.
Q. How much has it meant to have Shigeki here this week and why?
HIDEKI MATSUYAMA: It's been very helpful. Last time he came was 2013. He's helping a lot, a lot of good advice. I'm really happy that he's on our team.
