Quick Quotes

Q. Jason, you've made it to 18 both days. Obviously didn't get the point yesterday, did today. Talk about how clutch that shot was to secure this point today.

JASON DAY: Yeah, I mean, it's obviously not the greatest over there, but I had a lot of faith in Bezy guiding me around. I didn't put him in many good spots, either.

It's a team effort, and I was happy to hit a good shot like that on 18.

Q. Talk to me about the success that was taking place on the golf course today and how much did that inspire you, seeing how well the other teams were playing?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah, it was great to see the first match out conclude with a 7 & 6. We got off to a great start this morning, all the teams, and it was amazing to play alongside one of my idols growing up. Yeah, it was a great day.

Q. You've hit so many great wedge shots over your career. What were you saying to yourself over the ball?

JASON DAY: I was really honestly just trying to picture the flight and just throwing my awareness as far as I possibly could out towards the target. Once you get a little bit too technical and too internalized at the ball, that's when you start to think too much, so I was trying to push it out as far as possible, think about the flight and where it was landing, and fortunate to hit a good shot there.

Q. Christian, how much did you watch leaderboards today? When you saw all those yellow shields go up, did that help you fight?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah, it was amazing. It was great to see the guys early, were up most of the day.

Q. I spoke to many of the Canadians who won earlier. They said you guys may have been slouching but we were singing on the bus. How did you stay up last night?

JASON DAY: We had a bit of a rough one yesterday, obviously getting swept in that. All credit to the whole team, credit to the young guys on the team, credit to this guy. We were all singing on the bus. It was fantastic.

Q. Christian, Jason, you get a fourth point for your team today. Christian, can you take us to what you've been through this round? What a crazy match.

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah, emotions were definitely up and down all day. He's the best around the greens, so if I had to put one guy there, it would be Jason. Yeah, he pulled off an unbelievable shot there. I made some clutch putts, as well. It's been amazing.

Q. Can you explain what is happening out there today? It was one-sided yesterday and it's one-sided today.

JASON DAY: Yeah, like I said earlier, it was pretty disappointing to be swept yesterday, especially in four-ball, and we have better success in the four-ball, but it's nice to be able to win a good chunk of our foursomes. We obviously have another match coming up the 18th hole.

But all credit to the leadership of our team. Just keeping us very tight, getting back on the bus and boys singing on the bus and just trying to not quit on this. We've still got a long way to go. We've got a pretty big Saturday and obviously a Sunday to go. So we're still in it.

Q. How much of an influence, how much energy were you drawing off the wins in front of you, the black and gold numbers going up ahead of you?

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT: Yeah, a lot. It was great to see the gold on the board early on. I don't think anybody trailed in their match. Yeah, it was great to see. Things turned quickly to our side today, and I'm just really happy to have pulled off this win today.

Q. Jason, how would you compare the focus and attitude you guys had today compared to yesterday?

JASON DAY: Yeah, I don't think it was dramatically different. I think what was different today was the crowd was just so much louder today than what we had yesterday. The boys got up early, and then once you see guys get up early, it makes you want to fight harder.

Fortunately we played a lot of good golf today. We're back in this, and obviously we've got two more days left.

Q. Your teammate Adam Scott said yesterday after the matches that he was disappointed. I'm sure that was shared by all you guys. What's the overriding emotion after today?

JASON DAY: Yeah, it was obviously very disappointing to get swept yesterday.

Q. What's the emotion now?

JASON DAY: Obviously we're pumped. Everyone is pumped. We were out on the chipping green last night and singing and everything.

Like I said, the leadership has been fantastic. Mike, all the vice captains, from the young guys to the old guys on the team, the veterans, we've kept our spirits high, and that's what's awesome to see.

I haven't seen a team like this with such gratitude, to be able to be here and play, and just share emotions. Everyone is pulling in the right direction now.
