Quick Quotes

Q. It came closer than I'm sure you boys wanted, and I know it didn't go your way this morning, but unbeaten in foursomes this week. What is it about this partnership that's worked so well?

TAYLOR PENDRITH: Yeah, I played 36 holes or 35 holes with Adam today and he played amazing, especially earlier this morning. I didn't have my best stuff, was struggling a little bit with my irons. But he's a phenomenal partner, and always bailed me out today.

I was able to hit a couple good shots for him this afternoon, and we had it going there early. It was a little closer than I think we wanted coming down the stretch, and I hit some shaky shots, but we got the point, so that's all that matters.

Q. Adam, I'm guessing the alarm went off at 4:00 a.m. today and you played both sessions. How are you feeling right now?

ADAM SCOTT: Well, I'm glad they're going to be rested for tomorrow. Hopefully I can recover. It was worth it coming out this afternoon to win a point. I'm stoked with that, and hopefully it's going to be close going into tomorrow. We've got a big day.

Q. It was tight the entire time, huge point, and we know every little thing counts. Were you feeling it out there? Did you feel the size of this point?

TAYLOR PENDRITH: Yeah, I was definitely feeling it a little bit. I was struggling with my irons today, something I've got to sort out, but we did really nicely early on today, this afternoon, and was able to hit some really good shots.

Scotty played great all day. Super thrilled to get the point for the team. Yeah, tomorrow should be fun.

Q. Adam, you played great all day, you've played a lot of golf. How are you feeling physically, and did you think that you'd find a partner you can come out with in this format from Canada? You've been playing a lot of these events, and this looks like a very solid team.

ADAM SCOTT: It's a great team. What a great partner. I've been waiting for this. We had a great day today.

It didn't quite go our way this morning, but we were really solid this afternoon. Maybe a little fatigue kicked in on the last few holes, but we managed to scratch out a point. Sometimes they're pretty unexciting and sometimes they're just ugly, but a point is a point.

Q. Tough battle; how would you describe this session?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, we were all playing well, and we kind of had the match in control after 12. I missed a couple putts coming in. We got a little sloppy. It can happen in this format. It doesn't always look so pretty. It's nice to scratch out a point. It's an important point.

Hopefully we're going to not lose any ground this session. If we can turn a match around, that would be huge for tomorrow.

Q. It doesn't always look pretty, but was it great to earn a second point with Adam today?

TAYLOR PENDRITH: Yeah, it was great to have him as a partner all day today. He played really, really nice golf. I struggled a little bit this morning and rebounded quickly, didn't have much time, and came out this afternoon and hit some great shots and was able to make some putts.

We did really nicely this afternoon, and yeah, the finish was a bit sloppy, but like he said, a point is a point.

Q. You guys came out and got the first point in the afternoon. How important was that?

TAYLOR PENDRITH: Yeah, it's huge. I'm not sure how well we're going to do this afternoon, but (indiscernible) on 12. We fought really hard, and we were able to get a point. It was great to put another one on the board this afternoon.

Q. Adam, it still looks like it's anybody's ballgame right now. What do you anticipate the spirit and the attitude of this team to be tonight and tomorrow?

ADAM SCOTT: Well, tonight I'm sure there's going to be fun. That's kind of the theme of the week around our team. But we're going to have to be tenacious out there tomorrow and heroic, actually.

This is a big format tomorrow, 12 matches, 12 points up for grabs, an incredibly strong U.S. Team. Our guys are going to have to throw caution to the wind and play their asses off.

Q. How important was it to get that point on the board?

TAYLOR PENDRITH: Yeah, it was huge. Being able to put a point up on the board this morning, and then it was a quick turnaround. We came out firing. We were hitting some really nice shots and holing some putts. Our match was pretty exciting.

They played great on the front nine and it was tight, and felt like we were kind of in control of it, and then I hit a couple sloppy shots coming in and put him in some awkward spots, but we managed to get it done.

Q. Adam, you've done this so many times. How do you battle through those ups and downs emotionally on a day like today?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, foursomes is a tough format. We were in a great rhythm through 13, 14 holes, and then at the end of a long day, some funny stuff can happen. Some poor mistakes just through being fatigued even. But we scratched out a point, and that was our job today.

Good way to start this session. Hopefully the guys feel some energy back there and come home strong.

Q. 12 singles matches tomorrow; are you looking forward to it?

TAYLOR PENDRITH: Yeah, it's obviously a huge day, 12 points on the board. We're going to have to play really well to get this thing done, but I think everyone is going to be in good spirits and ready for the challenge, and hopefully we'll put some points up.
