Quick Quotes

Q. With Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley. You guys were 3-down through six holes. How were you able to flip the script today?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I've got to give a ton of credit to Russ. I felt like I messed up the beginning of the match. I felt like I was on a different planet for the first six holes, really the first five holes. Starting on No. 6 I hit a good shot in there, and I don't think Russ missed a shot today. I can't think of one shot I thought he could have hit better. Props to my guy here; he's a great partner and I'm just proud to be out here with him.

Q. Russ, what did it take to pull out that great play to turn this match around?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, alternate shot is a difficult format. We don't play it a lot. But I have the No. 1 player in the world on my team, so we just tried to keep hitting quality shots and got some momentum, and it's really fun watching him hit the golf ball. I'm just really thankful to be on the team and get a point.

Q. 3-down after 5. Scottie, I know you were a little frustrated with your putting early on. You spent almost 12 hours on the golf course today. You must be one mentally tough son of a gun.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Well, I've got a tough partner. I really do. Sometimes out there, that's what's great about team golf, you don't get to experience too much. He really picked me up because I felt like I was letting him down early in the match. I really was.

For him to bounce back and play great and execute shots when we needed them -- I think the way we finished off the match was really special and hopefully was some good momentum for our team.

Q. Russell, you guys kept your nose to the grindstone and worked your way through until finally you emerged with that wonderful wedge shot into the 14th hole.

RUSSELL HENLEY: Absolutely. Scottie has done that a few times for me this week where he hits it inside three feet, so I love when he does that. I think he keeps practicing, he's going to be good at this game one day.

Q. Thoughts going into your first singles competition in the Presidents Cup?

RUSSELL HENLEY: I'm just excited. I'm excited to be on the team. I'm excited to compete. It's just been a ball being able to be around these guys and play at a high level.

Q. Scottie, enough gas in the tank for Sunday?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah.

Q. You got down early, were 3-down in your first five holes, but you ultimately ended on 16. How were you able to flip the script?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Well, I have the best player in the world on my team, and we just kind of hung in there. We tried to keep hitting great shots. I felt like we got beat yesterday when we actually played really solid, and that's just match play.

I just think we hung in there and kept executing.

Q. There's been a lot of ebb and flow in these sessions over the last few days. How much momentum do you feel like the U.S. Team gained today heading into singles tomorrow?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, hopefully a good amount. I think Russell and I flipping our match today was important late in the day, so we'll see what happens on 18, but definitely some good momentum going into tomorrow.

Yesterday was a tough day, and the team came out and bounced back, and we're excited. Just going to go get ready for singles.

Q. As a team, what do you hope all 12 members are committed to tomorrow?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I just think everybody is going to bring it. They're committed to doing their best and playing great golf. That's kind of the talk we had last night in the team room is just continue to do what we're doing and just continue to bring it, and guys will be ready tomorrow.
