Quick Quotes

Q. Alongside Tom Kim who just halved that match with Sam Burns. You pulled off some incredible iron shots down the stretch to turn this match and ultimately halve it. Can you describe the mindset you had here today, Tom?

TOM KIM: Started slow, so it was a little hard to get myself going, especially without a partner, as well. That's why singles are so hard. I was playing pretty bad the first front nine.

Definitely me and Paul started walking down the fairway I think on 12 and we started to just talk about, let's get things going. I was 2-down with -- didn't really do anything. From my last Presidents Cup experience, it was the same thing. I just got really flat and couldn't come back. I made sure that I learned from that.

I knew my teammates were fighting really hard, and I saw a few gold points and that just boosted me. I wanted to figure out how could I get at least half a point in this match.

Once I got a good hole on that par-3, on 13, I felt like I kind of had momentum and I kept riding it and had a really good birdie on 15. And 16 kind of sucks obviously because the shadow was really hard. But I fought hard this week and I played with everything I can, and I'm proud of myself.

Q. Tom, how would you describe this round?

TOM KIM: Yeah, started really slow. Couldn't get anything going. I fought really hard my last six holes. I was 2-down and then got it back to all square.

I had a chance at 16, but it was just so hard with the shadow from the grandstand. If I make that, I would have won the match. But played great this week. Fought really hard. Fought with my heart out.

It was special. I really wanted to play well, and I felt like I was one of those players who needed to perform, and the Canadian fans were unbelievable. They've supported us all week. Now all I can do is hope and just wish my guys good luck and hopefully they can deliver.

Q. It's still not impossible. You said yesterday that you believe that that day is going to come. It might be closer than we think. What makes you think that this group is so special?

TOM KIM: I just think we're hungry. I'm sure the American team feels the same way. But when you lose so many times, I feel like there's always a story where people come back. Winning doesn't last forever. There's eventually times when you're going to lose. There's going to be times where lip-outs are going to go our way. A few breaks, a few bounces are going to go our way, and that's going to make a difference.

We play great and we keep falling short sometimes, but I'm not losing hope. I'm going to support really, really hard. I don't have a voice anymore and I'm going to lose it more today, but I really believe that our fans can bring us on and hopefully soon we'll have a chance to win the Cup.
