Q. Ultimately you come up short, but what a week it has been. It seems to be closer and closer every edition of the Presidents Cup. What do you think it came down to today?
GEOFF OGILVY: Well, look, the U.S. Team came out firing. We knew they would. The crowd came out, which is great for them. I don't know, we had a couple matches go up 18.
I don't know what the final score is going to be, but it was sort of on a knife edge all day. Some of those 1-downs that we had out there, if they'd flipped to 1-up, the numbers look really good, and who knows what momentum can give.
But look, it's a very difficult thing to beat the U.S. in singles in the U.S. They're great players, and the crowd came out for them. They get a bit of red on the board, and the noise gets loud. They started the day with a lot to do, and they started getting a chance and they all played great.
The golf that I saw today was pretty high level. Well done to Brandt's team. This is a tough thing to do, like I said.
Q. Nobody sees how much you and your team of assistant captains put in behind the scenes. Can you describe how your emotions changed throughout the day today?
GEOFF OGILVY: Yeah, I was pretty nervous. Obviously you start the day with a bit of hope, and I felt really good about our plan. I don't think I would do anything differently. I thought the lineups were good.
At some point everybody has got to play well. It's a tough thing to do to win singles in the U.S. It's a challenge. I was hopeful on the first tee. We were all pretty excited coming out here, and they all started well and it drifted during the day.
And then the crowd gets involved, as they should, because that's the advantage you have, and I thought they were great. Chicago got bigger and bigger every day, and I thought the fans showed out great, and we had a really good time.
Like I said, we'll sit down and we'll have a few beers tonight, I imagine. We'll sit down in a week or two's time and debrief and work out what we can do better next time, but I felt like we did a pretty good job.
