THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.

Q. Good evening. Congratulations. We felt a lot of relief for you at the end of the match. What did it represent for you, winning here?

ALEXANDRE MULLER: Well, I believe you said it all. I have gone through a difficult time. I didn't have any victories. I was lacking the feeling and the energy.

I'm very happy tonight that I put in everything I needed to have a good match and the victory at the end, and that was good.

Q. One word about the atmosphere in this new arena. How do you feel?

ALEXANDRE MULLER: Well, I remember being on Court 14 in Roland Garros and it was great, a lot of atmosphere, and now my fans were here. It's great, because they really support the French players and give us extra energy, and this is great.

Overall, the atmosphere is good. There is a lot of space on the court. Even it was Court No. 1, it's still a big court. Second round I will play on the center court. I'll tell you more.

Q. You were talking about these difficult times you went through. How did you go through it? Was it physical or mental? What were the ingredients?

ALEXANDRE MULLER: Well, it didn't last that long, but I was looking for explanations with my team. My game requires a lot of energy, so very often at the end of the season, I'm a bit burnt.

I will also have a newborn baby mid-November. A little girl is coming up, so maybe my head is not so much into tennis.

Well, I'm really happy I had a good match tonight and I won.

Q. Physically, how do you feel? I believe you had a problem with your wrist?

ALEXANDRE MULLER: Yes, I hurt my wrist in New York. I wasn't able to play backhands for six weeks. It still bothers me, but it's getting better.

Then apart from that, some issues that all players have. We all play with little physical issues. But I don't have anything serious preventing me to play.
