Q. Patrick, Xander, I'm sure you're taking a big sigh of relief. What a match that was. You were 3-up through 11. Describe the fight you had to grind out this one point for the Americans this morning?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, it was a tough match. It was nice to get the point on the board, get the fans going a little bit, and we're going to come out in best ball and we're going to be firing.
Q. You were trusted with the anchor match today. How much momentum do you think that one point will give your team this afternoon?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: If we're only going to win one point, might as will be the anchor match going into the afternoon. Yeah, we need to get some points back on the board here.
Q. Patrick, at one point your team was 3-up with seven holes to go. You see the leaderboard and the Europeans have won the first three matches. It's now tied going into 17 for your match. How do you conjure up the momentum to persevere and close out this match for the Americans?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, we needed that point. I think Xander and I have been in this spot a bunch of times, and he hit a bunch of great shots coming down the stretch. It's nice to get that point on the board going into four-ball.
Q. When you have been in this spot a bunch of times, Xander, what's the balance between having that final shot on 18 thinking, man, if I hit this close the crowd is going to go crazy, and actually staying in your process to pull off that great shot?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, like Pat said, we've had big leads, we've lost big leads, we've kept big leads. We've kind of done it all in alternate shot. I was leaning on him all day, and he was able to pick me up. It was nice to be able to hit some nice iron shots coming in and make it as stress-free as possible.
Q. You really delivered when your team needed it.
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, nice to be out there with Xander. We love playing alternate shot together, and nice to get a point on the board going into four-ball.
Q. It was a really intense contest throughout, wasn't it.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, we had to kind of lean on each other pretty hard throughout different parts of this match. It's never great to lose a big lead, but it's nice to finish off this way.
Q. Patrick, when you were 3-up, cruising in a sense, but then get back to all square, what were the feelings then?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, we've been in that spot plenty of times. We just stuck to our process and hit a bunch of good shots coming down the stretch.
Q. To respond in that way must give you so much confidence.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, it's not about us here. We saw a lot of blue on the board and we knew it was crucial to get a point, and it's nice to get one late going into four-ball.
Q. Overall what do you think the mood of guys will be in the American team room after that session?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Fight.
PATRICK CANTLAY: We'll be good to go.
