EOD Quick Quotes

Q. JT, you were a part of the early red wave that really inspired the rest of the guys behind you. How would you describe the fight out there today from the guys?

JUSTIN THOMAS: It was fun. It was nice to win a session to start. But look, we just got completely outplayed the whole week. We all completely understood what was ahead of us and what the reality likely was, but all of us somewhere deep down in us, we believed that it could happen. But it just is -- we knew that there was a chance that it ended up like this. We just went out and tried to take care of our business. It was just so fun. It was fun to give these fans something to cheer for instead of to cheer against.

Q. What were the emotions like as you were creeping closer to possibly getting the Cup?

JUSTIN THOMAS: Well, it happened fast. Between Cam and I, it was so cool to see him make that putt, and I felt like I just hadn't made one at all, and it was nice to finally make one. That's the momentum we've been looking for the whole week. We just made it a day too late.

Q. Viktor Hovland couldn't play today. He was injured. According to the captains agreement that dates back to the '70s, you had to sit Harris English. Do you feel like both bodies, PGA of America and the DP World Tour, should maybe look at that rule and the importance of it?

JUSTIN THOMAS: Yeah, they could, but it is what it is.

Q. Keegan Bradley invested a lot in this team. How would you describe him as a captain?

JUSTIN THOMAS: He was awesome. I told him that in the team room today when I saw him. I was like, being proud of the frame of mind that you got us in today.

I feel for him. I feel for Jillian. They gave so much to all of us and the wives. They gave us the best possible situation and circumstances to win, and we unfortunately just didn't come through for them. Just bummed for him and all of us.

Q. This is your fourth Ryder Cup now. How would you describe the significance and importance of this event to your career?

JUSTIN THOMAS: It's the best. It's more fun than any event we play. It's not even remotely close. There's nothing else you can be a part of where you can just get your face kicked in like we did the first two days and have that much fun.

The energy, the atmosphere, the nerves -- the nerves that I have in this event are unlike anything in any individual tournament. Getting to go out there with Cam Young and watch him ball out in front of his hometown crowd, it's stuff that you can't explain or recreate to anybody, but when you experience it, it's just the coolest thing ever.
