Quick Quotes

.

JON RAHM: The U.S. Team did nothing short of amazing. What they almost pulled off was incredible but luckily we had a big enough lead and the people to get it done. Hard to describe. Hard to describe what an atmosphere it's been all week, how tough it's been for all of us and I couldn't be any prouder of everybody on the team. We came together as a team and we did what we thought was impossible. This one feels very special.

Q. How do you explain what happened here? Europe dominated the first two days, built a receive on-point lead and yet we came right down to the end.

JON RAHM: It's golf. Sports. It's the reason why on Sunday you play 12 points. A lot of things can change, and it did today. Again, the U.S. did what they needed to, made great putts. That kind of set the tone and then the cheers keep happening and you can feel it throughout the whole golf course, and the boys in the hardest position of all were able to hold on and get it done.

Also kudos to Ludvig for getting the win. He stayed steady against a tough opponent like Patrick Cantlay and got the point early, which was very helpful, as well.

Q. You had José Maria Olazábal walk with you all week. How inspirational is that for you personally?

JON RAHM: It's incredibly inspirational but at times I almost feel more pressure just because his presence is there and I know what he's seeing and in a way what he expects of me.

I was able to pull off a few shots here and there but definitely as much as he helps me it's extra intensity when he's there. But it's the loveliest feeling out there. He told us this week, he didn't want to be known any longer as the last Ryder Cup Captain to win in the U.S. Just happy that we could deliver that for him.

Q. Your captain has joined Tony Jacklin as the only one to win away and home.

JON RAHM: Luke has set the bar for captaincy so extremely high. What he's done these four years of being a part of, is absolutely astonishing. He has been so professional, so dedicated, so incredibly meticulous, and well organized and doing everything that he needs to do and that's why you've seen the two performances you've seen from us. He's the leader of ship and he's definitely led us the right way. The only thing left to say from I think all of us is two more years.

Q. How will you celebrate this one?

JON RAHM: I have no idea. Whatever we do is going to be as a team.
