Quick Quotes

Q. 12.25 on day one, and you're leading. That's not a bad place to be.

THOMAS DETRY: It's a brilliant place. First off this morning, fresh green, golf course looking brilliant. A little bit of breeze actually this morning, but it seemed to have completely died off now and I expect some low scores as well this afternoon. I feel very happy with the way I played. Got a couple of bad breaks and things not really going my way in the middle of that round and I finished with three birdies in a row and it felt very nice to finish that way.

It was actually tough to squeeze a couple of practise sessions without rain the last couple of days, and this doesn't get any better. Scottish weather like this, it's unbelievable. Hopefully it holds up.

Q. When you're involved in a Rolex Series Event, you're going to get some good golfers. What's it like to be part of it?

THOMAS DETRY: It's fantastic. Rolex Series Events, I've played a couple of majors now, and that's really what gets closest to what major golf is: People, crowds, golf course is good test, as well, marquees right next to 18, and that's really where you want to be playing.

Q. You go early today, probably go later tomorrow, and you have a long time now. What are you going to do?

THOMAS DETRY: I have a trainer now, he's been travelling with me since COVID happened. I think we're going to do a bit of work in the gym, relax, watch some tennis and have some good sleep because I'm playing tomorrow afternoon.
