Q. 4-under par, how good was that experience playing on a links course in that lovely weather?
DAVID LAW: There's nothing better than playing links golf in conditions like that. So yeah, it was nice it play in front of the crowds, the home crowds, and yeah, on a nice day, too.
Q. Good to get a good start and also important to follow that up?
DAVID LAW: Yeah, and the course played completely different. The wind was pretty much in the opposite direction, so the holes played a lot trickier. So yeah, I was happy with that.
Q. What are you doing well?
DAVID LAW: I'm putting a lot better. Last week in Ireland I hit the ball decent enough but I putted poorly. So the difference this week has been the putter.
Q. Conditions changed and temperature got down a little bit.
DAVID LAW: It's variable. Like yesterday, we had 20 degrees of heat and a completely different wind. So like you say, that's the challenge you want and the course is firming up a bit, as well, which is great.
Q. You're in contention and this is where you want to be, a Rolex Series Event, tell us how that feels.
DAVID LAW: It feels good. I'm not surprised. I've been playing decent for quite a while but I just haven't really been getting results. The putter has not been behaving too well or the days that the putter does behave, the long stuff has not been great. It's nice for it to come together the first two days but it's all about putting my foot down for the weekend and keep on going.
Q. The warmth of crowd, great to have them back?
DAVID LAW: Yeah, it's great, nothing better than playing at home especially when the fans are back.
Q. And next week, thinking about qualification?
DAVID LAW: No, not particularly. As boring as it sounds, it's a by-product of doing well, but I would absolutely love to be there and play my first Open. But right now, I'm still got two rounds of golf to concentrate and get through.
Q. You've been associated with Paul Lawrie ; how much has he helped you?
DAVID LAW: Paul has been fantastic. I've known him since I was 14 years old. I speak to him pretty much daily. I see him at home. Yeah, he's been massive.
