Q. Can you sum up your round?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: : Yeah, it was a good day. Wasn't in the best of positions going into the round today given yesterday's weather and performance. It was fantastic to get off to such great start and build on it throughout the whole round. Played solid overall. Couple of poor shot coming in and didn't make them count. It is what it is.
Q. Weather difference between yesterday and today?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: : Massive, 3.2 shots between morning and afternoon. You know, that's obviously a large amount and to be honest, I feel like the wind sort of got calm as we started this morning. I think it's safe to say we got the first half of the draw.
Q. What's the reception been like for you coming into championship as the most recent major winner? What's it been like?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: : Yeah, it's been amazing. Yeah, it really has been amazing, the support just walking greens to tees and people saying congrats and keep going. It's just really nice to be out there and receive that.
Q. Has it made you think about your golf in a different way, knowing that you've achieved this incredible thing?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: : Yeah, just more confidence in my own game I guess. You know, prove to myself that I can win a major and any time I'm near those positions, whether it's DP World Tour or PGA TOUR or majors, just have that belief that I've done it before and can do it again.
Q. What have you been doing these past few weeks? We've seen you at Wimbledon. What else has been going on?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: : Yeah, just trying to figure out what day of the week it is to be honest. Yeah, it's just all been going a hundred miles an hour and just kind of wanted to get back to routine and practicing again and coming into these two weeks in best possible shape I can be. And yeah, it's just kind of trying to organize it all.
Q. Playing with Will Zalatoris again today, did you get to chat about that day back then at Brookline?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: : No, we didn't. Yeah, that wasn't a topic I was going to bring up.
Q. From Brookline to the Scottish links, the differences are stark. How do you feel you're going to adapt and what are those big differences?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: : Yeah, you know, like I've already said, this is quite luck of the draw playing links golf, seen it with some of the bounces and not just myself. I've had some good ones and guys I've played with had some bad ones. I think at times links courses are fairer than they are here, this golfing course in particular. Some holes you can get bounces that aren't ideal.
Q. Can you think of what it's going to be like to head to St Andrews as a Major Champion?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: : Not yet. Trying to concentrate and get this week done with and try to win this week.
