Q. Is it by the time you teed off, 12-under had been posted by Ludvig Ã…berg and you were 3-under at the time. How pleased with a 65 to make inroads?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: I'm reasonably happy. The weather is absolutely perfect. The course is there for the taking. I left a few out there but overall good golf.
Q. Can you describe the birdie on 6? Are you feeding off the energy of the crowd?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: It was brilliant. I'm trying to stay as even keel as I can. It's difficult at times. But when I was walking up, I hit a reasonably decent shot, and the crowd is going wild and chanting me all the way up to the green.
When I holed the putt, it was almost a relief for me, but also a goosebump moment when the crowd erupted. It's always good to have the support, and then doing half-decent.
Q. I heard a lovely story about the fact that you were not able to play at the Memorial, and you wrote Jack Nicklaus a letter to apologize about not being able to come and he wrote you a wonderful letter back. Tell us about that.
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, just obviously I got quite a bit of heat for not playing it but yeah, he would have done the same as me so he said. It was a lovely letter to have and from such a great guy, and hopefully next year I can be there to challenge.
