New York Golf Club 10, Boston Common Golf 6
THE MODERATOR: We're joined with Boston Common Golf. We have Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy. Keegan, start off with some comments about tonight and overall this season.
KEEGAN BRADLEY: Yeah, we came in here tonight and needed to win by four. Got off to a weird start but we were fighting until the end. We wanted to win the match, and we've run up against some good play on the other side, but we had the best time this year.
I had a blast coming in and doing the practices, practice rounds. Had a blast the whole year and look forward to next year, and hopefully we can win one match next year. That would be nice.
It was really a fun time and really excited about TGL's future.
Q. Adam, about the fight tonight and overall thoughts of the season.
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, it's a tough one. Anytime you have a loss, it's disappointing. I felt like we were clawing back and had the momentum, but again, we're playing against great players, and they hit some great shots and came up with it when they needed it. I felt like we were a little unlucky overall on the season. I felt like we played better than our results. But that's kind of the match play game. That's why this is exciting, and that's why I think the head-to-head and the whole innovation in here really has a future.
Q. Rory, any comments to add to what your teammates have said so far?
RORY McILROY: No, I think I'll just echo what Keegan and Adam said. It's been a lot of fun being in here, competing against the best players in the world, competing with some of the best players in the world. Yeah, it's fun.
Look, I've been sort of a part of this since it was just an idea, so to see it come to life this year and to see the reception to it, that's been really, really cool and something that I know I'm very proud of and all the team behind this concept are very proud of, as well.
Q. Obviously it's been a blast watching you guys. Wish we'd be seeing you a little more in the season as it continues on, but one of the most important things that weighed on me last week, I unfortunately wasn't here but I was tuning in from home, and I was among the countless people that were devastated when we saw you, Keegan, come out without the mustache --
KEEGAN BRADLEY: I didn't know where that was going.
Q. It was a tough blow to all of us fans. Can we get an update? Are we going to have it until the Ryder Cup? Any updates you've got for us on this important topic?
KEEGAN BRADLEY: Well, it's very important, that's true. It's back for now. I played some decent golf with it. I shaved it off and didn't play very well, so it's back.
But one bad week, and it might be gone again. We'll see.
Q. I'm curious going into your first TGL off-season, what do you expect that's going to look like? Do you need to get active in the turnover market or hit up the local simulator, anything like that?
RORY McILROY: I don't know. I'd certainly want to run it back next year. I really enjoyed competing with these guys. But yeah, the nice thing is that Keegan and I especially live very close to here, so we can hopefully pop in whenever we want and get a little bit of extra practice going into next year.
I think that's the cool thing about this, as well, is you've got the semifinals in a couple weeks' time and then the final and then it's gone for nine months. Hopefully by the time January rolls around again, people are excited to watch it.
After the next few weeks, we'll let the major championship season kick in and obviously have people be super interested in that, but January, February, March when there's not a ton going on at nighttime, especially up in the northeast, I think it's a fun thing for people to be able to sit down and watch on a Monday and Tuesday night.
Q. Keegan, I noticed your two boys here seem to be having a blast tonight. What about this league do you think is so appealing to maybe a younger generation or audience of golf fans?
KEEGAN BRADLEY: My two boys are right back here. They love TGL. My oldest is seven and knows all the teams, was rooting for The Bay today. I was like, what are you rooting for The Bay for? He said, well, they're the best team.
They love it, and I think it's cool because I think it's a little bit like video games and they can relate to that, and they love the music and the fun atmosphere. I think it's a really cool thing to watch my son, who comes to a lot of PGA TOUR events, just really love TGL, and I think it's a great sign for the league.
